    Staggering Frustration: Stay Clear of Cigna My initial foray with Cigna seemed promising; glossy marketing material, convincing sales reps. Like the story of all reviews here, your positive experience ends the minute you pay. The moment your card was charged, their purported world-class service morphed into an exasperating shell of apathy and ineptitude. Never even made a claim, just made a simple request for adding a new outpatient module to my plan, an inquiry that, I naively assumed, would be handled swiftly. It’s been a week of follow-up emails to both customer care and my sales rep, and unfortunately, I am still waiting. One would shudder at the thought of what may have occurred to have an actual medical emergency or a claim to submit. I am now, regrettably, on the hunt for a new provider, an exercise I would have preferred to avoid had I heeded the plethora of negative reviews. -- My advice: proceed with caution or, better yet, don't proceed at all.

    One star is generous. We paid for an annual coverage of international health insurance and with lack of communication from Cigna and our local hospital, I often had to pay out of pocket. I have been waiting months for reimbursement on medications and every time I follow up they say they will check the status and update me but fail to do so. On another note they seemed to have cancelled our policy early when I explicitly stated the date that we needed our international health insurance coverage to end. It looks like we are now uninsured abroad, with no account, and again no response about our policy and claims. Save yourself some trouble and do not do business with Cigna.

    Do not get insurance here. They ignore you once you have signed up and never get back to you. I was quoted for my insurance and they knew I was from Canada, never in my quote or conversation was it brought up that it was USD, which added $600 to my total. This was back in January… I called to cancel in January upon discovery and am still working on trying to get my deposit back… was then charged again recently for $200 by them? For nothing and no one is returning my e-mails, calling is useless as you just get new reps… horrible, horrible experience. Do not get your travel insurance here.

    Do not use Cigna. Absolute shambles of an insurance company. Offer 0 customer support (normally need to wait 1-2 weeks to speak to someone) and their online portal and app straight up do not work. Go with literally anyone else.

    I have pre-approval for my sons treatment. The pre-approval process took forever. Their policy says the reimbursements should happen in 5 working days after the claim, it never happens. Now I have been waiting for 2 months for a reimbursement. The communication is terrible. Sometimes they request information already given in the claim. Most of the emails are not answered. When they answer they ask for more 14 working days to process the claim. I am afraid this is a scam.

    Do not sign up to this! I have only had it 2 months and have made simple claims for gp appointment and they are already making alot of problems for me by not paying and saying there are errors and need 5 working days etc... etc... avoid! please do not sign up with them and have stress. As the other reviews say the only positive is the sales department. Definitely something wrong or the company has major problems

    If I could give ZERO stars, I would. The first time I went to use my policy, I called to get a GOP (like the policy says to) and I was told by a customer service agent that filing a claim would be much easier and I should just do that. So, being new to the plan, I agreed and filed a claim. I was informed it would take a week to get an update. Fast for award TWO MONTHS AND MANY EMAILS WITH NO RESPONSE LATER, I finally was able to get a few responses saying that they were “looking into to it” and I was continuously given a different case number. A few days later, after I emailed incessantly, I was finally told that the financial department was looking in to it. I waited the week they said it would take to get a response before emailing and was finally reached out to someone that they had accepted my claim and would send the money the next day. They told me it could take up to five days to get my money, which I understood. That was 1/30. Now today, 2/12, I still don’t have money after emailing multiple times again with no response. When I called, I would always get hung up on before getting to talk to someone. I was finally able to get in touch with someone today and was told that they would escalate it to the financial department to see where the wire transfer went and how I HAVE TO WAIT AGAIN TO GET MY MONEY. This has been ridiculous and exhausting. Cigna is the worst. Do not get plans with them as they won’t help you.

    Do not recommend. Unfortunately the only positive experience with the company was during the sales of policy. After that the overall service was mostly disappointing. Upon signing my policy, I was advertised a wide range of health care providers in my new country, but in reality none actually accepted Cigna insurance, and my family needed to pay out of pocket. Submitting claims afterwards was never an easy process, neither was dealing with their billing and accounts. Unfortunately their online web portal is not helpful either. When I needed to retrieve policy receipts, I had to go through multiple agents via their callcenter, over multiple days, and the company has yet to email receipts for payment. If you are a global professional looking for a service that performs as promised, this is not be your best option.
