We had the set meal for 2 as we couldn't decide what to have from the extensive menu. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service superb, even though the restaurant was full. Definitely recommend booking.

My favourite Chinese restaurant by a long way. Never had a bad meal in all the years I've been coming here.

Always good for Chinese food when in Brum. Better than most places in London's Chinatown

Called for lunch on 03/06/23 with my family who were visiting from Hong Kong. We have been to Chung Ying many times before but not in recent years. On this occasion front of house staff were unwelcoming and abrupt. Table service was prompt but there was no friendly conversation and we had to repeatedly ask for our bill. The food was nicely presented but portions were small for the price paid and most of the dishes we ordered tasted bland. The restaurant is clean, tables are ready for customers arriving and the decor is atmospheric. Overall, this is an expensive restaurant, the food lacks flavour and aspects of the service are weak. I would’ve expected better for the price paid. I cannot therefore recommend.

DO NOT ORDER TAKEAWAY FROM HERE IF YOU ARE GLUTEN FREE! I placed a group order, which included some gluten-free items (I have a gluten allergy). They had not labelled which dishes were gluten-free, and because they looked similar to other dishes I had ordered, we could not tell which was which. Gluten free was very expensive too.
