A tree was nice. I've been missed out for deposit return, so had to contact them few times

Loved the concept on sustainability, but the execution left much to be desired. I received an email from Gophr (an outsourced delivery company) for the Christmas tree - I thought it was spam until I worked out it was for the Christmas tree - better communications here would have resolved this issue. I was lucky and had a delivery man that was very helpful in getting the tree up the stairs for me (but reading other reviews, the experience is not consistent). I then was disappointed that the communications on what to do to prepare the tree for collection was not sent until the morning of the pick-up. I nearly called them, but this situation could have been easily resolved by sending the information well in advance of the pick up date, or at least the night before, instead of making customers wait for that information, especially since it takes time to take down ornaments and re-net the tree. Finally, what has been really disappointing is that it is now Jan 17 and I returned my tree on Dec 22 (as I took the option for pre-Christmas). I have not received my deposit back, have sent about 4 emails now chasing, have rung their office several times but they claim people are picking up the trees and no one is picking up the phone, so I have yet to receive my deposit back. Sadly, for these reasons, I would not recommend this company in spite of the mission - there are other London providers for sustainable trees, so I will be trying those out next year.

I used this company last year and the customer service was really good. The tree was delivered and installed in my flat and collected for recycling as arranged. This year has been a totally different story. They now use a courier company to deliver the trees ( who I have never heard of before, so when I received an email from them I thought it was spam as there was no mention about what they were delivering. I had to chase Christmas on the hill by phone and two emails and eventually received a response saying that they now use a courier company. Surely this should have been stated in the confirmation of purchase email. The courier company said they are to leave it at the main door. How I was expected to carry a 8ft Xmas tree myself I have no idea? If I had been told I could have arranged for someone to help me. My collection of the tree is meant to be tomorrow . I emailed this morning asking for confirmation and have had no response. I haven’t heard anything from the courier company either. The customer service has been very poor. Sadly I will not be using or recommending this company again to my friends and neighbours in Crouch End

Great service first year. When the tree was picked up I had a conversation with owners about how attached we were to the tree and how much we were looking forward to it next year. Deposit was retained as we looked forward to getting it back. This year, completely different. Had to chase for confirmation of delivery. Tree arrived on Saturday 10th December at 10:30pm. Delivery was outsourced and the delivery man was clearly exhausted after a full day. He could not believe the task he’d had to do and had started at 8am. Tree was not the same and was substantially smaller. After complaining on the Monday, I was told that the owner had had a long day too, he did me a favour by delivering to my area, tree tag must have fallen off last year and no one is guaranteed the same tree or the same size. As I believe in sustainability and small businesses, I replied immediately and asked for a partial refund (keeping the much smaller tree). This was over a week ago and I have had zero response, despite chasing. Really appalling customer service. FIND A DIFFERENT SERVICE. There are plenty out there

This company offers the most amazing service. They sell Christmas trees but will also rent them out - great for sustainability. They deliver with extraordinary efficiency too. I turned to them rather late in the day last year after being badly let down by another supplier, so was too late to rent a tree but bought one. This year, having moved house, I feared they wouldn’t be able to deliver to my new address. However, they answered my email query with extraordinary rapidity and the tree is now booked. Mind boggling.

So glad to have found a sustainable supplier so we can have a real tree without the guilt! Love the fact that you can have the same one every year (yes we named ours) and as it's alive it drops a lot fewer needles too. Delivery and collection on time and with a smile, and have always had a quick response on email even in busy season.

Avoid. Tree was ok, not great. Their communication was always very bad. But took around 5 months to get my deposit back. I emailed many times with no response. After about 4 emails, I got a response to say they would refund it. Another two months and multiple emails passed until they finally refunded. They claimed it’s because we marked that we wanted our deposit kept for next year, which wasn’t true, as we didn’t like the tree/service - so actively didn't not select this option. But even after I corrected them, took another 4/5 months to get the deposit returned. Dodgy.

We absolutely loved our rental Christmas tree! The service from Christmas on the Hill was fantastic from start to finish. Passing the piles of discarded trees after the season, we felt so good knowing that our little tree was going back to a farm to continue living and growing! We’ve reserved the same tree for next year. Thanks to Christmas on the Hill for making our holiday season so much more sustainable.
