A highly recommended dive boat at Mudeford Quay skippered by veteran local diver Paul Trickett. Vixen is a hard boat with diver lift, hot drinks, and a BBQ, available for group charter or as a diver taxi to jump aboard on the regular dive trips. There's detailed briefings before every dive with the advantage of decades of local knowledge. The boat goes out every day available there is weather. Vixen is the only dive boat operating out of Christchurch and as such offers a unique service to divers exploring this area of outstanding natural beauty. Diving in the area is very different than further west, there's a higher density of life because of its unsuitability for drag nets, the variety of the bottom adds a whole new dimension to scenic drift diving. I was especially impressed as the skipper "threaded" The Needles to drop divers into the fast flowing currents of the underwater canyons found on this side of the Isle of Wight, immediately one of my personal favourite dives. The challenge of diving Dorset is many of the most interesting sites are difficult if not unreachable from the shore. These sites are especially worth exploring because their inaccessibility offers pristine untouched reefs where life flourishes. Vixen reaches as far east as Bat's Head by Scratchy Bottom, the Isle of Purbeck's gems Durdle Door, Man O' War, Lulworth, Mupe, Worbarrow, Pondfield, Kimmeridge, Chapman's, and Tanville, sites many have never heard of. Wreck diving is huge on the south coast and naturally Vixen covers the Kyarra, Carentan, Aeolian Sky, Betsy, Fleur, Valentine Tanks, amongst others and your special requests. The boat accommodates 6 divers max ensuring a comfortable and uncrowded day out. Christchurch within easy reach of the M3 and its excellent variety of diving is a must-see dive destination.
