I asked Chiswick Auctions to value a collection of Japanese prints. The valuation received was unclear by the way it was worded and I did not understand exactly what was being proposed, whether the valuation was for the whole collection or just one print. So I rang the auction house and spoke with their valuer. He kindly confirmed on the phone that the valuation was ‘per print’. So on that basis I agreed to go ahead. Everything was crystal clear and I was extremely happy. Until I discovered that Chiswick Auctions sold the entire collection of seven prints for an inconsequential sum of money. A sum I was expecting for just one print. The valuer subsequently denied all recollection of our conversation and I was left feeling that perhaps something untoward had taken place? They offered to refund me the selling fees but they did not. I contacted to discuss but they did not reply. Poor show Chiswick Auctions.

I bought several lots during a live auction. All lots arrived quickly and undamaged from Chiswick auctions recommended delivery courier. I then went on to contact Valentina Borghi about unsold items at the same auction and i received a prompt and professional answer from Valentina. I managed to purchase more lots from Chiswick and they even packed the lots themselves and printed a label for FedEx to come and collect the parcel on my behalf. The delivery came within 24hrs, again in perfect condition, undamaged and this was all due to the professionalism of Valentina. So all I can do is thank her and Chiswick auctions for all their help and GREAT service. Thank you all very much.
