Spent a summer working here. At the time it was devoted to rain radar research - basically determining how tell if clouds were producing rain or not. The dish spent a lot of time pointed horizontally looking at clouds and not for LGMs (little green men), something I don't think it ever did. A small crew of scientists, engineers, and admin staff were there. They told me that the local town folk had all kinds of rumours about what they did there and there was an annual public open day. Good times.
