The rink was fantastic but there really should be separate sessions for younger children. It's so hard to skate when you're constantly trying to avoid tripping over little ones pushing penguins

So we visited on a weekday lunch time and I'm afraid to say the staff and organisation was fairly depressing! Me and my partner arrived fairly early and we were told the ice rink would need to be cleaned before we could go onto the ice-rink. 1pm came and went and still no communication what we were waiting for. I asked a staff member and she was incredibly rude , no eye contact, just said " the Marshall" so I had to presume a Marshall had to check the ice?! 5 mins later, still nothing and most certainly the ice rink was not checked or cleared. The same staff member then quite literally shood us onto the ice and said " you can go" with her waving her hands at us. Bearing in mind there were young children trying to get on, along with a number of adults this seemed fairly unsafe. Again no Marshall was present. When someone finally started checking it was pretty clear the rink was bumpy, lots of loose ice and not particularly safe. Again, nothing was said, so we had to presume the staff were happy with the condition of the rink. The actual skating was super fun! The music helped and after a while you got into the swing of it. But I'm afraid the attitude of the staff, the additional £5 for the childrens penguin slay and charge for storing your valuables really added to the rather depressing and sad looking marquee. When leaving the member of staff didn't even acknowledge me, just took my skates and swapped them for my shoes. Why does everyone have to be so rude and nasty when you are there for a fun and happy experience?! I wouldn't go as again I'm afraid, such a shame and it wasn't busy at all so it can't be blamed on that either. No good guys! A smile costs nothing 😬

It is a real ice rink, not plastic, good size, under cover in case it rains, and great to have one in Cheltenham. Let's hope enough of us use it so it returns next Xmas.

A lovely start to Christmas festivities. A family orientated hour. Open from the 18th November until the 2nd January 2022, Cheltenham Ice Skating is open daily from 10am until 10pm. With bookings available on-line or at the booking office on Imperial Gardens Cheltenham next to Coffee Rock, the horse box cafe, which serves hot drinks and snacks. Each session starts on the hour, although you need to arrive at least 15 minutes before you're due to skate. Each session is for 45 minutes. A lovely atmosphere with families enjoying the skating. It's indoors so there's no need to worry about bad weather. Masks to be worn by guests not skating. It's well worth walking down into town, to the Promenade and enjoy a visit to the Christmas Market.
