FAQ

What types of membership do you offer, and what are the associated benefits?

We offer several types of membership, including full membership, social membership, and junior membership. Full membership provides unlimited access to our courts, the ability to participate in club tournaments and events, and voting rights at our annual meeting. Social membership provides access to our clubhouse and social events, but not to the courts. Junior membership is available for those under 18 years old and includes access to our courts and junior events.

What is the availability of playing time on your courts, and how do I reserve a court?

Our courts are available for play seven days a week, from dawn until dusk. Members can reserve a court through our online booking system or by calling our office during business hours. We also offer drop-in play on a first-come, first-served basis, but we recommend reserving a court in advance to ensure availability.

What level of experience do I need to have to join your club?

We welcome members of all experience levels, from beginners to experienced players. Our club offers coaching and clinics for those new to the sport, as well as opportunities for more advanced players to improve their skills. Our members range in skill level, so there are always players to match up with regardless of your experience.

What type of equipment is required, and do you provide equipment rentals?

We require players to wear flat-soled shoes, but otherwise, we provide all necessary equipment, including mallets and balls. We also have equipment available for rent for those who do not own their own. Our staff is always available to assist with equipment selection and setup.

Do you offer organized tournaments and events, and what is the frequency of these events?

Yes, we offer several organized tournaments and events throughout the year, including club championships, inter-club matches, and social events. The frequency of these events varies, but we typically have several events per month during the playing season. Our members are also encouraged to organize their own matches and events, and our staff is available to assist with planning and coordination.

As one local person I am delighted to have this club on my doorstep. What a great facility and wonderful Open Days.

Really disappointing. As an established croquet player, I joined the club in good faith and excited to go and practice. We were not allowed to have even one of the 11 lawns set to competition standard to practice. Then we were told off for walking on the closely mown grass near the lawns, setting some hoops ourselves, you name it. The rumours I'd heard from local people about the reputation of the club are sadly true, unfriendly, unwelcoming committee (many members are lovely, but the culture is problemmatic). A significant change of culture is needed to save this historic club and give it a chance of being a world leading facility.
