Magnificent, relaxed, beautiful house in love grounds. A lot, lot more than Jane Austen.

What a wonderful surprise this place was! I cannot recommend it enough. The staff are absolutely lovely and make visiters feel very welcome. Although on the day we visited the service in the cafe was a little erratic, we couldn't fault the food and it was all freshly prepared. It far surpassed anything on offer at most NT cafes! The exhibition on letter writing inside the building was fascinating and we have to give a shout out to Geraldine, who filled our minds with lots of fascinating information in the library. We also enjoyed our stroll around the gardens with fabulous views of the Hampshire countryside. Thank you to all the team for making our day so amazing.

What a gem! Please do not miss this when visiting Chawton. Most Austen fans will visit the cottage but her brothers home is delightful. A higgledy piggeldy of rooms and staircases to explore. Don’t forget to see the library with 2000 of the 16,000 books on display. Still a study centre of women’s literature - an amazing heritage. Glorious grounds and lovely little tearoom. Please support this house and the work they do as it’s all a charitable venture.

Lovely gardens to walk round (children will love the hiding places), interesting house, tea room has amazing cakes. Was actually more interesting than the nearny Jane austin's house. The curator let us look into the library at the vast collection of books from last few hundred years.
