I have photographed a couple of events at Chartridge Lodge. I have found the staff, hotel and grounds to be lovely and a great setting. Vanessa White (now Crimson Sky Photography) Aston Clinton

Very run down, no food , no housekeeping, the staff tried their best to make us feel welcome, it used to be a beautiful hotel. Breakfast not great. Part of the ceiling on our floor came down while we were there, the owners should start putting money into the place, rebuilding parts of it would be good. It's like they are waiting for it to fall down so they can sell it for the land, there is a lot of land. And some very old trees.

Room is quite spacious and so is bathroom, nicely decorated. Large attractive grounds with mature trees and shrubs. Due to Covid breakfast menu was reduced but I was very happy with the toast, sausage and bacon. Service very good from friendly staff. Unfortunately room was very hot at times. I know the hotel can't be held responsible for a heat wave (yes, in September!) but perhaps a couple of fans can be provided? Bedroom window does not open that wide for safety reasons. Not sure if it's due to Covid rules but there was no tea and coffee, or soap and shampoo, provided. *Amended review as was impressed by several friendly staff and the superb grounds. So will give 4* as lack of shampoo, soap, tea and coffee due to covid rules.

Stayed here a few months ago on a business trip. Lovely grounds and pleasant staff, however that's where the good news ends. The rooms are badly in need of a makeover, and one morning we were faced with GREEN scrambled eggs for breakfast, before they were whisked away after a complaint. I wont be back.
