We have been using Charterhouse for a few years now, both to buy and to sell. We have found them to be helpful, very knowledgable, professional and efficient and so we're happy to keep coming back. Several items we have sold have sold above the higher estimate which is always gratifying and we have had some bargains while buying as well. The bonus is that the staff have always been friendly and polite - nothing has been too much trouble. It's refreshing these days! Thank you Charterhouse - great service all round!

First class experience selling our Mercedes classic car recently. Being complete novices going to auction for the first time, everything was clearly explained in a friendly, courteous and professional manner. We would highly recommend them to anyone and we hope to use them again. Thank you to all the team, especially Auctioneer Richard.

I spent a week with Charterhouse on work experience. Richard and his team really made me feel welcome, they gave me a real insight into what the auctioneering business is all about and I could tell that they all have a real passion in what they do. They go out of their way to provide an excellent service for each and every one of their customers. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Thanks again team Charterhouse.

Thank you to Charterhouse. Talked me through selling my late fathers collection of medals at a difficult time and then had a great auction with all the lots selling really well. Watched the auction live on line, very entertaining and professional. Top auctioneers, honest & trustworthy, would not hesitate to recommend.

Charterhouse have just refused to allow me to bid. No explanation - just refused. I have bought from Charterhouse in the past. They used to regularly send their catalogues for upcoming sales. I buy regularly through "Saleroom" and have never not paid for an item. By refusing me Charterhouse have eliminated, as it were, a genuine paying customer. To whose detriment is that? Mine? Theirs? Or the seller of the item I was interested in? Complete piffle. Who is it who says I am a slow payer? Publish the name of the auction house. According to “Saleroom”, in the recent past, I have bid for 83 items and been successful 28 times. Your response is, bluntly, rubbish. If I lived in the Sherbourne area I would sell at Acreman Street Auctions and not a business that turned away buyers.

I cannot speak highly enough of the remarkable service I have had from Charterhouse recently - the result of the sale of an art print exceeded all expectations! First - some context. The print did not belong to me, but I was asked to be the executor for a neighbour's will and, because she was an ardent environmentalist, she had left the print as a legacy for the World Wildlife Fund. The print was by the eminent French artist, Pierre Soulages - nearly 103 and still painting! - and I was hugely impressed when Charterhouse set the guide price of £6000 - £8000. Such a generous bequest, I thought ...as indeed it was. But the marketing carried out by Charterhouse was so targeted and effective that many people internationally were alerted to the sale. I attended in person and you can imagine my excitement as the brisk bidding kept climbing and climbing - bids arriving on several different telephone lines - until they reached a staggering £22,000! It was heart-warming that Richard and the other staff clearly shared my excitement! Not only that but, because the sale was for a charitable cause, and a particularly good one, I had the cheek to ask Charterhouse if they would consider reducing their commission fee. Since it is usually 25% I thought there was a chance that they might reduce it by 5 or even 10%..... Imagine my astonishment when a return phone-call informed me that, on this occasion, they would not charge any commission at all! How generous is that? They truly deserve a medal! I'm so pleased for the WWF - and for the honour done to my neighbour, Eva Bron. For Charterhouse - 5 full stars from me - 100% for such a great job done

I engaged Charterhouse for a house clearance. Highly efficient at sorting everything into lots, great at communication, brilliant auction, and they handled everything that sold and cleared what didn't. Brilliant experience and I would recommend to anyone.
