Telephone appointments only total rubbish service unfortunately this place is more of a advice centre, but reception staff are wonderful. My personal preference would be to knock place down and build flats for homeless

I moved here 8 months ago and Charlton Hill Surgery is night and day from my last GP. They are so responsive and it's easy to get an appointment. They've been so thorough, reviewing all my meds and completely controlling my asthma. I didn't think medical care like this was possible since covid, but they've excelled in every department.

I can't sing their praises highly enough! I have lived in several countries, experiencing a range of health care providers. Charlton Hill excels in the care it provides both professionally and courteously. The Receptionists, that first point of call, are friendly, pleasant to speak to, and work efficiently to organise whatever is asked of them. My Doctor is a great listener and is always happy to give explanations to any questions I may raise. I am very much aware of the pressure all NHS Staff are currently under, and do try not to add to that. However, when the occasion necessitates a medical rendezvous, I do appreciate the welcome Charlton Hill freely gives. Their premises have recently undergone refurbishment and extension, giving a delightful waiting area which creates a calming ambience helped by its gallery of wonderful framed photos of Andover.

I rang the doctors today for an urgent appointment I was on hold for 47 minutes to be told I can’t get an appointment for 4 weeks, also couldn’t get a telephone call for 4 weeks either also so reluctantly made the appointment. Still not feeling great I rang 111 for them to then advise me to call my doctors back for an emergency appointment in the next 24 hours. I started to call them but being on hold and knowing they would be closing soon I thought I would just drive down to the surgery as it’s only down the road. Still on hold I walked in to the reception to see 4 staff in reception all just stood around chatting and the phones ringing. The VERY rude receptionist that I spoke to was not in the slightest bit interested in what I had to say and talked to me like I was a piece of something rotten on her shoe. She told me someone would ring me in the next hour, I left the surgery not feeling very confident that someone would call and low and behold 2 hours later and they are now closed and no one has called. It’s no wonder reading reviews that other people have experienced a similar negative experience with the reception staff.

Been with the surgery over a decade, can honestly say has been a huge drop in standards and care over the past years, noticeably ever since Dr Needham left. There is a very rude receptionist, not all are rude but one of them shouldn't be anywhere near patients. Takes ages to get hold of them on the phone these days. They've made mistakes in forgetting to book stuff, just basic patient care and they fail at every turn!
