  The training I received at CAT was truly exceptional. I did the Track Performance Level 1 course, using my own Caterham 360 for part of the course and CAT’s Clio Cup car for the remainder. If your objective is to go much, much faster safely, then I cannot recommend this course highly enough. The key skills – which included braking techniques (trail and cadence, for example), power delivery, pedal techniques, steering inputs, and stringing together compound corners – were all seamlessly woven together as the day went along, and the practical employment of the skills was brilliantly reinforced with very helpful technical explanations of the dynamics that underpin the relevant parts of the car’s structure – tyres, brakes, suspension, power delivery, etc. CAT’s access to the extraordinary facility at UTAC is also unique. I used the mile straight (for straight-line braking exercises) and the five-lane oval circuit for fast changes of position and high-speed driving skills. The dynamics pad – a huge area of open tarmac – was used to practise things like trail braking into a bend marked by cones, and learning how to save the car when the rear steps out as the limit of adhesion is breached when driving one of the painted circles on the tarmac. The isolated skills practised in these parts of the facility then got joined together on the race track in the most exhilarating way imaginable. It's not cheap, but it’s worth every penny. I’ve been on the receiving end of lots of driver training over the years, and this is better – by miles – than anything I’ve received before. I’ve also spent 25 years as a teacher, so I know a good teacher when I see one. Do this course.

  CAT provides the very best driving tuition if you're serious about improving driving skills either for itself or with a plan to track or race. The location is amazing in the middle of the proving ground with multiple tracks to access during a day session. Just remember no photos on site as its where the car industry test their new cars too!

  Fabulous day at Millbrook with the CAT Driver Training team, learnt so much about car handling and the limits of my own car. High speed run around the bowl was exhilarating, an experience not to me missed. And putting it all into practice on the handling circuit brought it all together. Highly recommended.

  Another very enjoyable, insightful and educational day spent with Colin Hoad at CAT Driver Training. The day was spent looking at various techniques to enhance my existing capabilities and to fine tune my circuit driving technique. Some of these were either entirely new to me or I'd not previously considered them in the context in which they were employed, so I came away from the day with a very worthwhile uplift in my skillset and the array of driving techniques I can apply to the track. Very highly recommended. I will be back to CAT for further coaching very soon.

  Overall no doubt a 10/10 track driving training experience. After spending the full day with Colin at the incomparable UTAC proving ground I am now able to corner more quickly, with less risk and exploiting the handling characteristics of the car in a way that I did not understand before. The course method of building up skills individually (braking, steering, throttle use etc.) and then putting these together really works. This is delivered in way that combines demonstration, explanation of the theory and loads of practical time at the wheel means that you cover ground quickly and it goes in. Of course this only works if you have an instructor who can a) drive a race car b)knows how to teach c)is an expert and can relate to your car and knows why cars work the way they do. Colin is undoubtedly an expert driver, car development engineer and teacher

  Cat Driver Training's Road Driving Academy is an exceptional performance driving school that delivers top-quality instruction and training for both beginner and experienced drivers. The school's commitment to safety, skill-building, and hands-on learning make it an excellent choice for anyone looking to improve their driving skills, boost their confidence on the road or track. I had a great day with Paul which was full of learning as well as hands on driving experience, allowing to implement what we discussed. I highly recommend the school to everyone irrespective of the driving ability and experience, but would suggest to really think through the objectives, as this will really help to optimise your learning and get the most of your time with CAT.
