I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Bishop & The Bison in York and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The accommodation is simply superb - the room was small but confortable, clean, and beautifully decorated, with all the amenities you could possibly need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay. The location is perfect - while it is a 15-minute walk away from the hustle and bustle of the city center, it's definitely worth it as you get a quiet location away from the center noise. Whether you're interested in exploring the history and culture of the area, or simply want to relax and soak up the atmosphere of this beautiful city, The Bishop & The Bison is the perfect base. The breakfast served each morning is absolutely amazing - delicious, freshly cooked, local ingredients and beautifully presented. Jonathan, the host and Anthony in the kitchen, were an absolute delight - friendly, helpful, and full of great advice and recommendations for things to see and do in York. Overall, I can't recommend The Bishop & The Bison highly enough. It's the perfect place to stay for anyone looking for a comfortable and enjoyable experience in York.

My husband and I absolutely loved our recent stay at The Bishop and The Bison! It is only a short walk from the train station and the York Minster (the walk by the river is beautiful). Our host, Jonathan, was incredibly warm and welcoming and gave us tips on what to see and eat in York and in Edinburgh (the next stop on our trip). The vibe is relaxing, sophisticated, and cozy with really neat decor and lovely details everywhere you look. Our bed was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept in at a hotel or bed and breakfast and the breakfast was absolutely delicious and made-to-order by Jonathan. We also enjoyed meeting Princess Lily, the adorable and sweet hostess kitty. We highly recommend staying at The Bishop and The Bison!

I chose this B&B on the strength of their impeccable reviews on Trip Advisor and they are very much warranted. A straight 20min walk into town this quirky hotel is wonderful. Host Jonathan starts the experience by personally telling you he's looking forward to hosting you. While parking is at a minimum Jonathan was happy for us to leave our car in situ well after checkout so we could enjoy our last day. He is knowledgeable about the local area, recommending our last night restaurant which was the highlight of our weekend. Breakfasts are to die for. Local produce freshly cooked for you by either himself or his partner. He was incredibly helpful and even packed me up a takeaway bacon sarnie as we were heading out before breakfast was due to start in the first day. The hotel itself is pristine, well stocked and very cosy. A very comfy bed indeed. We were in the Bishop Room which was very nice. I will warn that the showers pressures aren't very high, so if you are expecting power showers, you'll be disappointed. This however is to be expected in a house of that age. My only other warning is about York itself. It gets busy. Very busy. So definitely book all your restaurants before you go. But if you don't, Jonathan will be happy to point you in the right direction. Thank you Jonathan, Anthony and Lily the cat for a fab stay and we will definitely be back in the spring Walkability: A good 20 mins walk into town but plenty to look at on the way.
