Mick Duffy: you were not, are not and have never been an employee of Carlton Civil Engineering. Carlton were subsequently never responsible for what you were or were not paid. You and several other men worked at Carlton's via an agency and in the space of a week caused nearly £1,000 worth of damage. Your employer invoiced Carlton's for your work, accordingly with deductions for the damage caused and Carlton settled the invoice. What your company have or have not chosen to pay you is not the responsibility of Carltons. 19 years in construction and you still managed to cause all that damage in one week - as detailed by your 'review' below. CCE will not engage in public arguments such as this, discussions of liability or defamation. You should contact your employer for any further issues regarding the matter.

I'm writing this review for subbies or agency workers who are thinking about working for Carlton. (And I hardly ever write negative reviews). Tread very carefully they are savages. After working for 3 days on Carlton I was devastated to be told by my agency they are not paying me because of damages to a digger of which I knew nothing about. I asked for evidence and was then sent a pic of an old rusty bent ram guard. I then got a voice message from Kevin (owner) saying no one is pointing a finger at anyone they have sent money to agency its up to agency to dish out wages how they like minus damages!!!!!! Not only that the foreman watched me dig a trench all day and said nothing till last thing then announced it was not good enough then a week later 7 hours was deducted from me and a groundworker/banksman and charged us both £73 each machine hire. ( I believe this is illegal)... It gets better, my replacement digger driver was also stopped £300 as apparently he mucked away a digger bucket that he knows nothing about. They are criminals. I was sent the time sheet from carltons to my agency showing the stoppages etc. Between me and 2 guys it was over £900.. What a disgusting way to run a buisness. Robbing from ordinary working class guys. You need to be exposed and closed down. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. But in all honesty I only have myself to blame as i was aware of their poor reputation... This company take a great delight in employing eastern Europeans because the pay structure is a lot different. These people are savages. Companies like Carlton are destroying the construction industry. Complete savages.. Kevin I have kept the payment sheet you sent to the agency and I'm taking this as far as I can. I have posted it on here I'm not sure if you have taken it down. You are a disgrace..

I worked for carltons for almost a year, this was fine when I had accident at work, wasn't my fault and carltons wouldn't provide a accident book to log this. I lost almost 3 months wages and ultimately my job with them. They then proceeded to lie about what happened and state that my claim was false! Completely untrue. Wouldn't work for these lot again and definitely wouldn't trust them at all. They have hung up the phone to me and treated me like complete rubbish. Not professional at all
