A misinformed member of staff, with a ponytail, was very unhelpful (rude) and tried to overcharge me whilst selling an off peak train ticket. He wouldn't accept my network railcard and clearly doubted me on my journey plans.

Staff are charming, polite and helpful, an asset to Southeastern railway, particulary the rotund, middle-aged fellow with the floppy grey hair and winning smile. Top geezer. Ten season tickets out of Five, will surely use again

Due to bad traffic we arrived at the station with 5 minutes to spare, as the train arrived we were trying to que up or get them through the machine but due to it being busy we ran up to the barrier and said to one of 7 members of staff, bearing in mind we both had big suitcases due to a connecting Eurostar to Paris we said we HAVE to get on that train can we buy tickets on there. Also stating I usually pay for a monthly HS1 ticket and have a 18/25 discount card he said why didn’t you get here earlier so I explained about traffic in the taxi and he just said well you have to get them before you travel. After a few minutes of him lecturing us the train pulled away! Causing us to miss our HS1 train, and then delaying our Eurostar journey. Absolutely disgusting service being total jobs worth’s and enjoying the power that they had that Wednesday morning, hopefully they never have to be anywhere and are running late. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM IF YOU NEED A LAUGH THOUGH -_-

A standard train station with basic amenities, has a cozy rest area, a small supermarket and cafe, with two platforms.

Having just a few minutes before my train I mistakenly bought a single ticket instead of an open return. The man at the ticket office quickly changed the ticked for me in time to catch my train. He will probably never see this but - thank you so much.

As the train station I use most regularly, I've been here at all times of day. During the day, there are usually plenty of staff around, all of which will give you assistance if you ask. In my experience and from what I've seen, if you aren't so adept at using the ticket machines and it is open, going to the ticket window is faster than trying to punch in letters to the sometimes unresponsive machines. Also, the member of staff serving you will know what discounts of special tickets are available for your particular journey rather than just getting a regular return or single. This is worth noting at peak times when the station is very busy or you were slightly later to the station than you planned. At night, there aren't so many people around, the main ticket hall will be closed but the station is well lit up and the side gate will at that point be open. There are taxis waiting out front regardless of time of day, as the drivers I have spoken to are familiar with the train times. The station itself is always pretty clean and well maintained and the shop on the platform, although being prices you'd expect from a trainstation does offer the regular set of food, drink and snacks for your train journey.
