The first plastic surgery to be carried out in british commonwealth was done here, in ww1 this hospital directly received the first injured soldiers from the Western front, also known as the military chest hospital ( following the use of gas in the trenches by the germans) later went on to serve the local Community as an outpatients and xray dept run by frimley nhs, now being developed by weston homes and renamed gun hill park.
