FAQ

What types of gardening tools and equipment are available for use at your community garden?

We have a wide variety of gardening tools and equipment available for use at our community garden. This includes basic tools such as shovels, rakes, and hoes, as well as more specialized equipment like tillers and cultivators. We also have watering cans, hoses, and other irrigation tools available for use.

How is the community garden maintained and who is responsible for upkeep?

The community garden is maintained by a team of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about gardening and community involvement. We work together to keep the garden neat and tidy, weed the beds, water the plants, and overall ensure that the garden is well-maintained. Everyone is responsible for upkeep and we encourage all members to pitch in and help out whenever possible.

Are there any restrictions on what can be grown in the garden?

We do not have any restrictions on what can be grown in the garden as long as it is legal and not harmful to other plants or individuals. We encourage our members to grow a variety of plants, including fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs. We also have resources available to help members determine what plants will thrive in our specific climate and soil conditions.

How often are community events held, such as workshops or social gatherings?

We try to host community events at least once a month, although the frequency may vary based on season and availability of volunteers. These events can range from workshops on gardening techniques to social gatherings like potluck dinners or picnics. We also host events to celebrate the changing of the seasons and holidays throughout the year.

Is there a fee or membership required to participate in the community garden?

Yes, there is a small fee to become a member of our community garden. This fee helps cover the cost of equipment, seeds, and other necessary supplies. However, we do offer reduced rates for individuals with financial need and also welcome volunteers who are willing to help maintain the garden in exchange for membership.

The garden themselves are nice. However loud music all the time sometimes disrupts local residents. It has however turned into a proper community which will always stop for a chat when walking your dog. We went to the little shop there and got a handmade box for my son, which he loved, and was pleasantly surprised that it took card payment. We need more little community pockets like this.
