I informed Tim the following day I was unhappy with the hall, landing and stair carpets and the reason why. Initially Tim said he would come back to redo them but then cancelled three times. On the third occasion after Tim realised I had not yet paid him for the job, he became verbally aggressive towards me. I informed him I had not yet paid for the job because he had not yet been back to complete the work which he promised to do. He said during the last conversation I had with him that I had not informed him before he started the job that there were stains. I do not believe I should have to point out every single mark to a professional carpet cleaner. He said that the marks on the stair fronts, he had put down to wear and tear which he believed was probably caused by the kids running up and down them! The carpets are only two years old and no footwear is permitted in our home. Tim did not mention any of this before leaving my home and left me and invoice for £120 expecting to be paid by bank transfer. The carpets were in a far worse state than before he started the job because they were left patchy, stains clearly visible, with only the left side of the stair fronts looking clean as he had not cleaned the right side. He did not clean up to the skirting board in the hall way a leaving a three inch dirty mark which was clearly visible from the top of the stairs. I had no option to employ another carpet cleaning company who have now left the hall, stairs and landing carpets looking like they are brand new carpets as all the stains have now been removed including the dirt on the stair fronts and all the boarders which Tim left behind. I had no option to employ and pay another company out of £120 which Tim had quoted me for two room carpets and hall, landing and staircase due to the fact that he did not come back to complete the job himself and I paid him the remaining balance when I had the hall, stairs and landing professionally cleaned by somebody else. Did an excellent job of removing a coffee stain from a carpet, I was so pleased I also had my suite and dining chairs cleaned.
