We hadn’t booked for our pre-theatre lunch but the lovely staff welcomed us in and gave us an excellent table. The fixed price menu was very good value. I ordered the starter salad which unfortunately came with large, very hard croutons which I couldn’t eat although the rest of the salad was delicious. I then ordered a croque madame which was very undercooked - the bread soggy. I didn’t make any complaint but our lovely waitress did apologise when she saw what I had left on the plate. Then before we asked for the bill, the manager came over and apologised saying that he wasn’t going to charge me for my meal. I thought this was really excellent service and quite unexpected. We’ve eaten here before and will do again as the food is excellent normally. In fact during lockdown we used to order meals for delivery - a great treat in dark times. So I’m happy to recommend this lovely restaurant. Maybe this time my choices didn’t work out well, but the great service made up for that in spades.
