4 Adults 1 child ate here on Thursday night. Meals bought were beef ragu, fish and chips, pork and black pudding pie and coronation burger. Childs meal burger and chips with beans. All meals excellent. Portion size excellent. Also real chips not cardboard frozen chips. We were so full none of us could fit in a pudding. Service was excellent too. Definitely a place to visit

The Hare and Hounds is a short way from the cinder track (a dis-used railway that runs fro Whitby to Scarborough and is used for walking and cycling) and worth the short diversion to have a drink or a meal. We didn't eat on this visit, but plenty of people around us were tucking into great looking food. The menu is good and not badly priced. On a bright day, the garden is lovely and has plenty of bench tables. Inside the interior is fresh and stylish. The toilets are also bright and very clean. The people here are nice and engaging to talk to. This would definitely be my local if I lived in the area.

We went for Sunday late lunch today. All 5 of us had different meals and nothing was too much trouble. We were served by a very competent and friendly waitress who was calm despite being extremely busy taking orders from the bar and lounge. We waited a little longer than in some places but were rewarded with a delicious hot, freshly cooked meal. We can see why this pub is so popular. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will definitely be going back.
