We have only been coming here for a couple of weeks but our 13 (nearly 14) year old dog Daisy loves coming here! Mark and the team are super friendly and helpful. In her old age Daisy has gotten a bit stiff and has an issue with one of her back knees. Our vet recommended physio or hydro to help her. Both hydro and physio sessions are fun and engaging and Daisy always leaves with a spring in her step. Would recommend Butterwick to anyone!!

Our vet recommended Butterwick Animal Rehab Clinic after our gentle elderly rescue Meg miraculously survived being hit head on by a car, leaving her with nerve damage impacting her right foreleg. Although it isn’t local to us, from the first conversation with Barbra, our thorough initial appointment with Amy and hydrotherapy sessions with Claire, we knew we had come to the best place not only for Meg, but for ourselves. They all took us under their wing, showing such empathy for our traumatising experience and its impact on us. As well as assessing Meg’s physical condition, we discussed in detail what we used to do with her and our hopes for the level of fitness she could regain. It was such a relief to get clear and firm guidance regarding what activities she should and should not be doing. As part of this we were given exercises to do with her at home, along with access to an online portal. It felt so positive and empowering to be an integral part of her rehabilitation and crucially provided Meg with mental as well as physical stimulation (cookie stretches being an immediate favourite!) Along with the hydrotherapy treadmill sessions, her tailored programme is not only helping with the foreleg injury, but movement in her arthritic hindlegs is also improving. Four weeks into her treatment, Meg is now confidently weight bearing on her injured leg and we’re up to 30mins “slow walking” a day. Moreover, with the clinic’s advice and support, we feel we’re returning to a more normal life together.

The team have helped my Cavapoo go from little to no mobility after a spinal injury to 2 walks a-day for 30 minutes each with no sling support needed in under 8 weeks. Thank you for giving me my dog back.

I cannot thank all the staff at Butterwick Animal Rehab Clinic enough. Since the very first time Contacting them everyone has been so helpful, friendly, professional and compassionate. They have listened to all my concerns regarding Luna’s back and leg and have devised a plan of treatment which has just blown me away. Within the first 2 weeks of physio and hydrotherapy Luna has improved so much, her pain has decreased, she can move more freely and she is a much happier content dog because of it. It’s amazing to see her coming back to her old self and I’m amazed at the difference in such a short time. I am so excited to see what the rest of the sessions product. Thanks to each and everyone one of you - you are bringing my precious Luna back to me. Each time I visit the clinic you make it feel like visiting family too.

We came to Butterwick after experiencing complications with hip replacement on our three legged lurcher Willa. We were at our wits end before coming to Butterwick and had begun to lose hope that Willa would ever get the full use of her legs again. Coming to Butterwick really was the start of a 360 transformation for us and Willa. From start to finish everyone we have encountered made us feel heard and seen as owners, and all three of us have been thoroughly looked after throughout the rehab process. We were allowed to be ambitious in terms of our dreams for Willa's recovery whilst being given realistic and practical steps to help us achieve those dreams. This was such a difference from our previous experiences with Willa's rehab, and after our first session with Amy my partner and I cried with relief at having finally found a group of professionals who were able to understand Willa like we did, and who we felt were going to help us get to where we needed to be with her longterm. Added to that, we had never seen Willa as relaxed in a physio appointment as she was that first time round. I don't know what magic they work at Butterwick but Willa is always happy to see the team and seems to trust them to do whatever they need to with her -- a big difference from the dog who in physio appointments previously would try and bite anyone who dared to attempt exercises with her. We're now four months on from that first appointment and the transformation in Willa is something else. She's now pain free, happy and building muscle every day. The team have been fantastic in supporting us through subsequent injuries and operations she has had that interrupted our programmed rehab with them, and have always found work arounds for us. It makes the weekly journeys from Newcastle to Darlington totally worth it, and we now know we wouldn't go anywhere else for our physio or hydrotherapy needs. Thank you team Butterwick!

I couldn't thank them enough for all they have done for my dog Sophie, she had to have hip surgery when she was only a year old, after her check up at the vets they thought she might need more surgery. But after the great work of the Butterwick team, Sophie is doing great and running around with the other dogs and back to her old self.

Would highly recommend Butterwick to anyone who has a pooch that may need some assistance now or in the future. We started to notice that Milo was showing some discomfort and lameness end of last year and made a call to speak about it, we had a call back straight away where I discussed with Barbra what I thought was wrong and went through all the questions I had, this quickly followed up with a consultation where the team could assess Milo to see what the plan would be. Anyone who knows Milo knows he is the most loving dog in the world, however can be extremely nervous of new people, especially when it comes to being touched. Because of this, I am also very nervous because i always worry for him and how he is going to feel/react in situations, however, Amy ensured me that everything would be fine and we could work at Milos pace. Within weeks Milo opened up and fell in love with the team and now has no issues working with them - he is always super excited to attend and can’t wait to get in! His progress has been great, we have had some niggles along the way however the team were straight on it, and responded within an hour to any messages/videos I sent so that we could set up a new plan to help the issue along the way. If it couldn’t get any better we have been away for two weeks, and Butterwick have been sending me updates on Milo and his progress to keep my mind as rest (picture of Milo at hydro whilst I’m away). Thank you Mark, Amy, Claire and Barbra for everything you have done for myself and Milo, you are all truly amazing!

Excellent friendly and knowledgeable staff. Our dog was starting with arthritis in his back and lost some muscle mass due to his kidney condition. We started with the treadmill and physio and now starting the pool. Going slowly in the pool as he isn't a fan of water but the staff are so patient and he loves the cuddles. He has improved a lot in a short space of time, so need to keep up the good work. Highly recommend this rehab clinic.

Amazing facility with wonderful staff. My dog broke her back leg and after her operation we thought we may never be able to go on proper walks again. The hydrotherapy and physiotherapy services here have completely turned things around for her. We’re so happy to have found this place.
