In summer 2021 they phoned me after an appointment (which might I add, was for SA, and the woman on the phone didn't treat this with any sensitivity based on the nature of my appointment and I don't even think she'd been told about it, which is in itself a disgusting oversight) and the woman on the phone asked me "how many pregnancies have you had?" and reacted as if she was surprised when I said zero - I was 19 at the time and I'd only "done it" twice ever in my life at that point, so yeah, funnily enough I'd never been pregnant before. She spoke to me as if she had the assumption that I was promiscuous and had to have been pregnant before, which was an incredibly rude assumption. Then she tried to encourage me to get the coil and I said that I'd heard horror stories of it being so painful that women pass out, but that pain relief isn't offered by default and women are basically lied to about how painful the procedure is. She interjected "it is uncomfortable" - those exact words, over and over again, as if it was a scripted response. She refused to acknowledge the experiences of women who found it painful or that it even could be painful, and kept giving a response that genuinely sounded rehearsed/scripted. Stop lying to women - it's disgusting. I'm leaving this review now even after all this time because that response still absolutely fills me with rage. I was going to make a formal complaint at the time and even had it typed out, but then never sent it because I felt like I wouldn't be listened to/didn't want to be seen as "petty", and just now I was reminded of the experience and I still feel hurt by it and I realised I could leave this public review.
