Please see pictures- On arrival of Bakers cottage, Bury Farm Cottages (end of November 2020) the cottage was very dirty and clearly has not been cleaned and before we could unpack our belongings we had to clean every room dispite the host/ owner telling me that the cottage had been deep cleaned prior to our arrival (it later transpired that the previous guests of Bakers Cottage left the same day at midday and we arrived same day at 2:30pm) I find this outrageous and lack of consideration from the owner due to current Covid guidelines. The thick layered dirt and grime was all very apparent underneath beds, bed frames, furniture, behind bathroom toilet, sink wash basin and skirting boards, the kitchen cupboards needed cleaning before we could use them, the pots and pans were unuseable and totally unhygienic and we had to ask for replacements from the owner. No cleaning products were supplied for general cleaning and we had to ask for a mop and bucket to be able to clean the floors. After 1 week I started to become unwell and developed bites on my body - feet, legs and hands, which I could only put down to my new living conditions at the property considering all the dirt and grime I had removed. When I notified the owner she was uninterested and became very defensive and in denial of the current health concerns that I was experiencing (the previous guests had had pets stay in the cottage which the owner allows pets within the accommodation) I also saw other guests with dogs staying in the other cottages. I called the pest control company myself the same day as the owner was being unhelpful, the pest control attended Bakers Cottage who treated and sprayed the entire cottage for flees and other parasites. My GP on two other occasions that what I had was flee bites from cats or dogs. I will say that i do not own any animals including cats or dogs. Outside of Bakers Cottage bedroom window was dogs mess that had been left there from other guests dogs which took the owner considerable days to remove it. I would definitely not recommend this holiday cottage to anyone considering the owner has no care lor consideration for her guests. The holiday cottages are advertised on Air BnB and her website as centrally heated, but the radiators within all the four cottages on site is non existent due to the owner leaving the temperature of the radiators barely warm and on regular occasions even off, with temperatures outside of 5 degrees and below. With no heat or heating to all rooms within the cottage. A wood burner is in one cottage only (Bakers Cottage) where you have to supply and pay for your own coal, wood and other things to heat it. The other cottages ie Millers Cottagr has damp to the walls in the bedroom and bathroom and also with no adequate heating facilities. These holiday cottages are run down, dirty, cold and a health hazard. The website is not a true reflection and is a fabrication of how the cottages are now. The website has old pictures of when the cottages were first built 18 years ago. The bin in the kitchen was beyond disgusting which smelt and was completely rusted in which the owner stuck an air freshener on the underneath of the lid to cover it up and distinguish the smell from the bin. The outside back garden area has all old rotten garden furniture the wood ramps are broken and rotten (see pictures) the electric appliances in the kitchens are old 15 years plus and need replacing, including fridge, dishwasher and oven they need to be to the UK for holiday/ private lets. The area in which the cottages are set on is a beautiful location but the owner lets this down with no interest in health and safety to her guests.
