My son and I started around 10 weeks ago. We both thoroughly enjoy going and will be staying on after the 12 weeks of beginner leasons. Andy, who runs the dojo, is a fantastic guy and great teacher. Such a warm and friendly atmosphere as the graded players push and encourage the white belts to improve. Great place to get fit and learn Judo at a steady pace.

Excellent club with over 230 square metres of Judo mat at its headquarters on Queen Mary Road and fully qualified trainers with outreach each day to numerous schools and sports centres around the city. The head coach, Andy Parton, has national and international connections so celebrity guest trainers take sessions and enthuse the members about every two months. Emphasis is on being competition ready, whilst all are warmly welcomed with new people checking it out every week. There is currently a strong kids programme from primary school age upwards with good progression through regular formal gradings hard-earned under the British Judo Association. From memory, three medals were won by club members at the recent British School Judo Competition, including the adaptive judo class (look it up). One of the adult club members is a current national medallist. There is a club 'rumble' competition in a couple of weeks time and an inter-club challenge across the city in a couple of months. Kids and adults are encouraged and fully supported to enter national and international competitions throughout the year. Children safeguarding and safe practise on the mat are treated seriously, so is the club motto - No Ego , Just Judo. And its fun too. This is an outstanding club in the region.
