Beautiful place to visit for a lovely walk, dogs welcome. If your lucky you might see the horses or deer. No pay to park. Would recommend planning your journey round as it is very big an easy to get turned round. Definitely recommend

Lovely walks but very poor signage. We have 2 dogs and kept them on the lead but passed several dog walkers who obviously assume the rules don't apply to them which gives us all a bad name. Tried following an AllTrails route but got lost several times as often no signage. Dog-friendliness: Loads of trails. Yes, dogs on a lead but doesn't stop them sniffing and enjoying the walks

Disappointed that dogs must be on lead at all times. A minority of owners with poor dog recall ability now has meant all dog owners can't let their dogs enjoy anytime off lead here. In addition RSPB seems to have invested precious monies into hiring people to drive around in large vehicles (the irony here of dog owners being blamed for their dogs destroying wildlife whilst large cars drive around doesn't escape me!) whose sole purpose (it seemed to me) is to militantly check your dog is on lead - one was continually tracking me with binoculars! I would warrant the majority of people that visit are nature lovers and own dogs so they are losing out on donations/word of mouth by behaving like this. I have studied environmental management - if areas need such heavy protection they should be entirely fenced off to completely reduce risk and this in the long run would be cheaper than hiring people to have to be guards.

Please ignore comments about dogs being unwelcome; this is only because some of ground-nesting species and the potential to scare livestock. RSPB are trying ultimately to make it a haven for birds to be fair. Dogs on leads are always welcome. Beautiful place and well-worth a visit. Lots of nightjars if you go at the right time of year!

Rude rspb members roam the area attacking dog owners. It’s a shame, used to be a nice relaxed area to go walking but last few times just seems to be a hostile environment, wouldn’t recommend for kids and definitely not for dogs.
