Stay away from British Gas at all costs. I cannot express my frustration enough with them. Their service is atrocious, their customer support is useless, and the bills are exorbitant. According to British Gas records, our electricity consumption has increased more than tenfold compared to last year's period, despite no changes in our usage habits or new appliances. We believe there may be an issue with either the electricity meter, but most likely with the billing process. We were informed over the phone that we had a credit of approximately £800 before April 2022. However, after migrating to the new payment system, we ended up with a £2000 debt. Our latest bill (£658.62) is more than half of the annual average for a 2-bedroom flat. Even though we paid the bills every month, the debt has inexplicably increased, currently around £2900. With every month, we receive bills that are way higher than what we are anticipating, despite our efforts to conserve energy. And, even worse, they are constantly increasing. And despite enduring the cold because we switched the radiators off. In December and January! We contacted their customer support countless times and for many months it felt like we were talking to a brick wall. They were unhelpful, rude, and seemed to have absolutely no interest in addressing our concerns. "You pay for what you're using!" they kept saying. Indeed, we used the same amount of electricity as four flats combined. We filed four complaints (one via email and one directly on their website), one to the Centrica's CEO and another one through the Resolver tool. Only after we did this, they bothered to schedule a technician to check our electricity meter. Two months after we requested it! It's been already five weeks since we filed the first complaint via email and three weeks since we sent another one to the CEO and they barely bothered to actually schedule a techinician to check the electricity meter and to suspend the billing process until this issue gets solved. I am beyond disgusted with them and sick of their bullying tactics. They've blocked our switch to Octopus 20 minutes after we've requested it. I can only hope that others heed my warning and avoid the headache and hassle that I've experienced. Stay away from British Gas at all costs.

Terrible company forcing pre payments meters on the elderly, vulnerable and disabled. Despite the insane amount of profits they have made in the past year or so they still found it necessary to do that. Shocking, I will never be a customer with such a company.
