Overcharged by mistake?! Attended a charity event last night. Bought 1 can of Coke. I was told it costs £1.40. After I tapped my card, I glanced at the machine screen which had £5.20 on, which I though it was odd. I asked the staff member who served me and she reassured me about the cost. She didn't give me the receipt. Left the place much later and had to go back again because I realised they had actually charged me £5.20 (as I initially thought) instead of £1.40. I spoke to the manager (extremely tall blonde girl). She asked me to see proof and I had to show her my bank account transactions on my phone, since I wasn't given the receipt earlier. Then I was asked the time of the transaction. After checking the paper receipt, she come back with cash. Since I used my card I was expecting to be debited on my card. It wasn't ideal but didnt say anything. She didn't apologise at all and was right miserable through out our whole conversation. Maybe overcharging me was a mistake. But I have the gut feeling it wasn't and they hoped I didn't realise.
