Not bad Hotel location for the city itself. However our room was next to the traffic lights which was a bit noisy.

Normally I stay at a premier Inn as I know what I'm getting. Reasonably cheap and does the job. Having to book a last minute hotel meant we were forced into picking something different than normal. I was pleasantly surprised with the hotel, The decor was lovely Inside. The beds reasonably comfy extra marks for the soft duck down pillows though I would say the spare bed in a family room was just a pull out sofa bed which had no support whatsoever for our daughter. Suppose it's not much of an issue for very young children, but being a teenager she definitely would have preferred a proper bed maybe even her own room. Nice touch on giving us cookies at reception. Lack of creativity for breakfast. Very much premier inn style buffet breakfast which I don't mind. It is what it is. I know what I'm getting but paying more premium prices so I would have expected more premium products on offer. There was no air conditioning inside of our room. Not sure if it was the case in any other. The other rooms didn't think to ask. Not normally an issue but it was a quite hot summer evening and where we were situated in the hotel was pretty on a main road where you could hear drunk people walking down the street late at night. I suppose that will be the case at choosing to stay at a city centre hotel. My advice to anyone booking in future ask to have one of the rooms around the back. There is parking at the hotel but there's only enough space for maybe about 10 cars. I'm not sure if you could pre-reserve one once again maybe ask. There is however a council car park across the road that's very reasonably priced. Think £20 for 24 hours. But be mindful of removing your car because you will have to pay again once you drive back in.

This was first time I have stayed but it will not be my last. It's ideally situated just outside the city walls so only a few minutes walk to all the attractions. The staff are welcoming and helpful. My room was amazing. Food was great to. Will certainly be going back soon.

Stayed 3 nights for a conference at the hotel. Downstairs was stylish and when you could find a member of staff they were friendly. The bar seemed rarely staffed and only had watery Carlsberg and Poretti on tap, the Poretti was ok to be fair. It only took till the second day to find the toilets and I had to ask where they were, some places put a sign up but wheres the fun in that? Upstairs looked ok but the floors are very creaky so I felt bad walking past other rooms to get to mine. The room itself looked decorated ok but had a ' Not used for a while ' smell but this cleared quick. Had an exelent huge Samsung tv and superb blackout curtains with very little road noise from outside. The bed was the correct concrete mix of 4 parts aggregate, 2 parts sand and 1 part cement, there felt like a topper underneath but this was as effective as a camping mat, needless to say I barely slept for 3 nights. I didnt need the volume up on the tv as long as I watched the same channel as next door, so I was glad they were watching Men in Black too. Outside the bathroom door someone must have thought the carpet would hide the board that was randomly sticking up 1/2 an inch, sorry but I could still see it. The toilet seemed low to me but would suit someone 4ft tall so I suppose it was being inclusive, well thought out Hilton. I only had one shower in the shower over bath for safety reasons, it is very narrow so it was feet together, I nearly fell out when washing my hair so stuck to deodorant after that. A normal walk in shower would have made more sense. The sink taps seem to turn the opposite way to any other taps I have used, I put this down to being quirky until the morning I left when I realised I had been brushed my teeth with the hot tap. If you are in room 35 remember the hot tap is cold and the cold tap is hot. They were really nice taps though. It is a place that looks good but built by out of work cowboys who seem to have been handed a rough brief of what a hotel should look like then left to get on with it, with nobody checking their work afterwards. Not what I expected from a Hilton at Hilton prices but the location was very good with a Greggs 5 minutes walk down the road, Bacon roll, Tea and a Coffee for less than £4, a bargain.

Great location with a handful of on site parking spaces. Rooms are cleanish (window ledge with dead flies and spiders). Free cookies are lovely too. Friendly staff with good local knowledge of things to do and places to visit. We'll definitely come back if we ever stay overnight in York.

Overall, this property's location was spot on having been to York many times, I know that this a an excellent location for walking access to everything. However, I have had to rate the service down to 1 star because of the following issues created by the hotel and not ourselves which are completely unacceptable! firstly charging us again and taking the money from our bank account for the full weekends stay despite the fact this had been paid for in full in August 2022 (which they claimed their reservations team had not sorted out, which regardless of who is to blame, never pass the buck nor indeed reflect this in a conversation to your guests!!) Because of the initial inconvenience, the hotel advised our Sunday morning breakfasts we ordered at reception upon check-in, would be complimentary for us as way of an apology for the inconvenience, but to then return home and find they have just helped themselves to another amount (albeit small) of money out of our bank account again without so much as a courtesy call or email to advise why is beyond unacceptable!! Rooms may be good they are clean ( looking at other reviews) but that being said, ours was average at best, the first morning there we went to open the curtains and one set came off the track! complimentary toiletries, in the description of the hotel I'd honestly say just ignore because they're really only enough for a child or child size body for one morning. So, all in all considering this hotel is part of a worldwide large chain, and having stayed in many Hilton hotels over the years in many locations, this one I'd have to say is the worst for customer service and accuracy I've ever experienced and bearing in mind, the only reason we ended coming was because we were initially booked for December 2022 and then those dreaded rail strikes happened and we could not get to York, when trying to cancel we were told we would NOT get our money back AT ALL and our booking would only be valid to rearrange within 6 months. So, all in all an utterly dire experience all round, very unhappy with the whole saga

Parking is a real issue. The breakfast was fine but the evening meal was terrible, no wonder we were the only people eating there!!
