I started as a client at breakthrough many years ago and always received the best support from them. Having helped me find my first job and then my transition to law i hav3 always been happy the service. I now work for Breakthrough and enjoy supported others the way i was supported back in the day. I have met some fantastic people at Breakthrough and learnt alot. There would probably be alot more reviews on here if google was more accessable.

So now that I can rate breakthrough gonna be honest this review was for a while ago since then breakthrough may have changed a fair amount since then, anyway onto my review of my time with breakthrough. So first off I used to go to breakthrough when it was in Northenden and then it moved and started to having to go out of my comfort zone by traveling on buses. By going into town then getting another bus to breakthrough, which was a little inconvenient for me since it was all on the south side of manchester at one time. As for the work coaches and boss for me there has only ever been two people who made an effort the manager in Northenden at the time called Ben and a work broker called Michelle. Other than these two people I had a rotten time at breakthrough ranging work broker giving me wrong infomation which lead to stress and anxiety for me, others were doing sloppy work and fixing something that was fine to begin with like my CV. I had a guy at breakthrough which I know he has left now changing my CV so much it was like a child had made it according to the person who amended my current CV. I also has a broker who gave me wrong time for a work trial at breakthrough that I had come to the end of which i was I was asked to start all over again, this went in for review with some people higher up as it was discrimination towards me i was told by the guy doing the review notes it was wrong for them to do that. Over all I had nothing good come from breakthrough except for the two people I meet at the beginning, I never once got a job interview it was all volunteering and nothing that I really wanted to do just so that the brokers I had could show they had done something with me which is kind of funny since all of them are now gone and left breakthrough. As of now I had my cv amended and even found a nice little part time job which is now an apprenticeships I had recently done my functional skills level 2 in Maths and English now im in a level 3 infrastructure in IT. Sad to say this was nothing to do with breakthrough I cut tides with them a good few years back thats why I said it could of changed now this is just my review, as my current career and education came from the help from my family from sheer luck and local community centre job club who amended my CV also from work friends.

I went to Breakthrough UK for approximately 6 months. Staff are friendly and encouraging. I suffer from mild to moderate learning difficulties. When I self referred myself to Breakthrough UK, my advisor told me I would not be treated like a number, as have all the Recruitment Agencies. I lost my job on incapability grounds owing to epilepsy, as I struggled to meet high targets. I was reassured that I would be supported by K of Breakthrough UK but a month down the line if I'm not mistaken, he told me Breakthroughs funders have changed the criteria they have set for who to provide 121 support. I have applied for 250 jobs and had over 25 interviews and had no luck in 2 and a half years. I had hoped that I would have better luck with Breakthrough in providing me a placement that I can demonstrate what I can do but this never happened. I think Breakthrough UK have done well to support people with profound disabilities that have difficulty becoming independent. I am neither severe nor am I "normal" enough to secure a job anywhere because I'm a slow learner because of seizures and brain surgery. I suspect I am the only person who has not had a good outcome with Breakthrough UK, hence the absence of reviews.
