The Weave
Went to see Brass Toff with a problem with one of my valves (after I foolishly tried to remove a stuck valve cap myself). Paul kindly sorted it for me while I waited. He also knocked out a few dents in the bell and generally went about his work whilst chatting amiably. When I got home and blew all three valves were playing as smoothly as they ever had. And the trumpet as a whole seemed to be much more responsive and the notes much more centred. Was a tired horn that I’ve played for several hours a day for nearly 20 years, and Paul has definitely given it a new lease of life. Superb craftsman…highly recommended!

This instrument is so precious to me. It belonged to my Dad who played it in The King's Own and various bands until he was 80 years young! Paul (aka Brass Toff) expertly restored it, repairing the valves and slides even though it would not be played. I cannot thank him enough for his knowledge of his craft and his clear understanding of bandsmen and the special relationship they have with their instruments and the music they love . . . he is a real craftsman! 🤩
