It's a plaque rather than a site to visit but it definitely is of historical importance. The academy was founded by Thomas Braidwood, in the late 18th Century when Hackney was still more or less rural ( until the railways opened) Any savvy readers will find much more information on this on the www, as one does. Amazing story in an amazing part of town- Hackney! My apologies for the slightly blurred bumpf at the bottom of the plaque.... go visit yourself and be mindful of the residents on that site ( which is not quite the original site of the academy which was a bit more south.
