Very little of our eating experience here was enjoyable or authentically Italian. The waiters (both English) were inattentive, slow and generally uninterested, with little knowledge of the wines or dishes on the basic, laminated menu. They were more keen on selling the prints of local sites which adorned the walls. The wines (with one exception) were not Italian. Overall, the food was extremely bland. My pork fillet was dry and swimming in a puddle of thin oxo-like gravy. My wife’s monk fish was over-cooked with no care taken to cook it correctly. If I’d been blindfolded and brought into this place I’d have thought I’d stumbled into an average quality staff canteen.

Wonderful little restaurant in city centre. Easily accommodated for our large group of people. Food was prepared to our liking and served rather quickly, even though we were 14+ guests. Lasagna was delicious and appetisers utilised proper Italian meat and cheese. Pasta was also good. Kind staff was a good bonus.

Went for my birthday dinner. Restaurant lovely, staff very friendly and welcoming. Although menu was limited we all managed to pick starters and mains we all liked. Food was tasty and full of flavour. The restaurant also accommodated my husbands request to get in a small birthday cake for me. We will definitely return when back in York.

We had a fantastic lunch today. They make there own bread and it’s worth a visit just for the bread! The house red was great, but I had a second glass to make sure. I had homemade lasagna and tiramisu both were excellent. Everyone was very pleased and we will definitely be going again the next time we are in York.
