I visited the Saturday disco. Kids and I really enjoyed it. The venue has both quads and inline skates for hire. It is a superb skating surface, set in a big old warehouse. Most skaters were young learner skaters, with a few walking parents. Its a big area so there is plenty of room for both slow and quick. Some games during the session, limbo, stuck in the mud, bulldogs, etc. There is a small cafe with drinks and some hot food. They cater for kids parties. Check their Facebook page for times.

It's great to have a local venue that's designed just for skating! It just needs a little work to make it shine. The facilities are just a little "rough and ready". We went to the Saturday night disco session and it was a little bit crazy. There was only one marshal on the rink and they weren't there all the time. This meant that some skaters (mainly kids) were skating the wrong way, which is unsafe to say the least. There were also a lot of people walking on the rink, which is pretty unsafe. Making sure there's always an official on the rink that picks up on this stuff would help. The rink itself was also filthy! In all the years I've skated I've never seen my skates get so dirty after just a couple of hours. It could do with a good clean. As a dedicated rink, this is something that ought to be a priority as it'll destroy bearings in short order. None of the above would stop me going again though. Just a few improvements and it'll be a great place to go :)
