Adjacent to a bend in the River Wharfe there is a place of exquisite beauty and atmosphere. The priory is situated in the most idyllic surroundings the county of Yorkshire can offer. A combination of sylvan hills and distant high moorland with the gaunt gothic monument offering silent but eloquent witness both to the creativity and religious fervour that built it and to the monstrous, callous greed of the person who caused its ruin. If you visit this part of Wharfedale you will find a divine corner of England where it is quite sufficient just to be.

This is definitely worth the stop while in the Dales. £15/car is a bit much, but if you book the day prior it is £12.50. That said, the ticket allows entry to all their parking lots for the whole day. And the park is huge with family friendly activities as well as nice walks. The ruins are definitely the highlight!

Hilarious 😂. There is a sign up that says there are stepping stones missing. So if course lots of people ignored it. I'm so glad I'd enjoyed using the very clean toilets before I walked in... As when each person slipped and fell into the water I laughed that much I almost wet myself.

We did not go in the priory. We went to walk, picnic. Beautiful! Everything you need to make your day out go smooth. Toilet's , cafe's, parking. We booked parking in advance on line. Easy to follow tracks. Beautiful.
