How can six years pass and a tenant is not checked on. 'His council tax was in arrears, but his rent was still being paid through housing benefit'. So as long as you get your money you don't give a ...... Well there's one loop hole that could be stopped. Even if Government allows the direct collection of housing benefit, housing associations could put a process in place for an in person check after say 3mths. I assume 6 years of housing benefit will be paid back. It is so sad. In my thoughts. Robert Alton.
