Good food, comically terrible service. Like when we asked for bread for burrata (had to pay extra, but whatever) and watched the chef in the open kitchen get halfway through a slice, put down the bread knife and go outside for a smoke. Edit: After seeing the reply, I wanted to add: When we managed to get someone’s attention for the bill that night, I apologetically asked for the service to be taken off (first time I’ve ever done this, btw, it felt terrible) saying “Sorry, the evening really wasn’t great.” The reply was a shrug and an indifferent “That’s fine.” That’s all, no follow-up, no mention of bread being taken off the bill. If that’s “casual and confident service” then a point goes to the high street chains.

Boiler & Co is one of our local, SE1 restaurant/ bars. It’s been trying to find its identity since it opened in 2022 - each iteration has had some very good aspects. Right now the quality of food / value for money balance is perfect. In particular, the small plates are interesting and delicious. Some great wines too. Recommended for a cosy, winter’s lunch on a Saturday. Good tunes too. Thanks. Update. New menu is awesome. The chef is absolutely on point. Small plates but always with a special twist. Go!

Instead of Spritz Aperol, I got a glass full of ice. Hummus didn't taste like hummus. The Salmon was absolutely raw and it took 1 hour to be served (I guess they went for fishing to get that salmon). The rib eye was raw as well, but nobody actually asked how I would like to have it. Our group of 8 people was the only customers in the restaurant but the service was too slow like they are extremely busy. Overall a very poor experience. Don't recommend this place.

Boiler (informal British): a chicken suitable for cooking only by boiling. Pretty much sums up the experience. I assume they replaced their kitchen staff with a mad cackle of Hyenas on the evening we visited. The staff were very apologetic and plied us with free wine and truffle fries but if they were a few bottles short of us being so drunk as to notice that dinner arrived nearly two hours after we ordered it, that half the items they were out of or said they had but didn't show up. What we did have had a few gems like the steak but mostly despite us being starved the dishes were marginal at best. Not an experience to be repeated by anyone, and I say that even having had the 50% discount from the fork. It would not have been worth it unless they had paid me. The drinks were fine.

Visited today for a Mother’s Day lunch. I couldn’t fault it, you know it’s a good lunch when I eat all my vegetables! Cocktails were excellent, food is divine. Staff are pleasant and know their stuff about their drinks. Defo returning again soon, thanks boiler!

Really, I don't know how this place gets so many 5 stars! Worse service I've had in a long time. We literally ordered our drinks and food at 8pm, and it was past 10pm and they still forgot some of the items! To be fair, the staff apologised many times and we got free drinks at the end, but I would still not come back if I got the same experience.
