FAQ

What is your experience and training in craniosacral therapy?

At Bodywise Remedial Therapy, we have extensive experience and training in craniosacral therapy. Our therapists are fully qualified and trained to provide this gentle, hands-on approach to healthcare. We take pride in staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and research in the field to provide the best possible care to our clients.

How does craniosacral therapy differ from other types of manual therapy?

Craniosacral therapy is a gentle, non-invasive manual therapy that focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the bones, membranes, and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Unlike other types of manual therapy, such as massage or chiropractic, craniosacral therapy uses a light touch to release tension and improve the function of the craniosacral system.

Can craniosacral therapy be helpful for my specific condition or symptoms?

Craniosacral therapy has been shown to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions and symptoms, including headaches, chronic pain, TMJ dysfunction, stress, anxiety, and more. However, every individual is unique, and we recommend scheduling a consultation with one of our therapists to determine if craniosacral therapy is the right choice for you.

How many sessions will I need and what can I expect during a typical session?

The number of sessions you may need will depend on your specific condition and goals. During a typical session, you can expect to lie down fully clothed on a comfortable treatment table while the therapist uses a light touch to evaluate and treat the craniosacral system. Sessions usually last between 45 and 60 minutes.

What is your approach to integrating craniosacral therapy with other treatments or therapies I may be receiving?

At Bodywise Remedial Therapy, we believe in an integrative approach to healthcare. We work closely with our clients to understand their individual needs and goals and may recommend other treatments or therapies that can complement craniosacral therapy. We believe that by combining different modalities, we can provide the most comprehensive and effective treatment possible.

My name is Tom and I’m 75. I’ve been receiving treatment on my shoulder for a possibly related previous rotator cuff injury. On my first consultation I couldn’t raise my arm above shoulder height without severe pain and had tingling in my fingers possibly due to trapped nerves. Katie did a full assessment of my injury and put together an exercise program that was really easy to follow, however she continued to research other possible causes and symptoms which meant varying the treatments. After 6 one hour treatments which included amazing muscular massage and acupuncture the pain is now only minor and rotational movement is excellent. Katie is most professional in her approach of understanding individuals issues and I would fully recommend engaging her services

I had back and neck pain that was a constant struggle and this triggered almost daily headaches. After just 1 session everything was so much better and the headaches have improved dramatically.

I started going to Katie a few weeks ago for Long COVID. She started with a couple of sessions of cranial sacral therapy which was very relaxing and really helped lower my stress levels and help me sleep. I have since had a session of acupressure combined with massage. Katie is very knowledgeable and really takes the time to establish any issues with my body and worked on them brilliantly. I have not felt as good as I do now in months - thank you!

Amazing service helping my son with his back. Particularly in lockdown - face to face zoom with my son and follow up emails and exercises. Thank you - couldn't have asked for more!

I was walking The Thames pathway and on day 4 I knew that my left knee required attention. I googled and Wallingford was the nearest clinic. Katie came in on her day off to see me. Her assessment and intervention were spot on ! All this was done in a very professional and friendly manner in lovely surroundings. I am so very grateful to Katie as I continued on my walk and enjoyed it very much. In fact I don't think 5 stars is enough. I would also like to thank Mr Receptionist who took the time to organise the appointment and photograph !!
