The 3 stars is for the awful ladies toilet. My husband said it’s the same with men’s toilet. Negative- It was very wet on the floor. Not just a small area but the whole floor. I could not pull my 3 years old grandson trousers down that it might get wet. Dirty and broken toilet. No signage and warning. There were school children in and out. What if they slipped? I’m furious. Positive- Apart from that, u get a stamp on ur hand and you come in and out for the whole day. A cafe and fish and chips outside which u can bring in and sit by the playground.

Extremely disappointed. Total waste of money. As a person who has owned and maintained freshwater and reef tanks, this place was poor. Tanks exhibited a lack of maintenance. In many places, the displays were unreadable due to the lighting not working. Parts of the area were under construction. The toilets were out of action. We were in and out of the place in less than 20 minutes, and that was too long.

The creatures are amazing and the aquarists very knowledgeable and helpful. However the building and many of its exhibits are incredibly run down and it really needs significant investment.

A small but nicely laid out aquarium, an amazing array of sea creatures but don’t come expecting full size sharks or sea turtles. A few enclosures including the otters were under maintenance and empty, and the women’s toilets and disabled were both out of order which was a bit of an issue. There’s an outdoor play area about half way round the route with scrambling and wet play activities which helps with attention spans. Coupled with the surrounding attractions at Southsea it made for a nice day out.
