I’ve been visiting Emma for around 6-months for a half-head of extensions to thicken up my long hair, and my only regret is not doing it sooner! Not only is Emma knowledgeable and kind, she is extremely skilled and professional. The quality of the hair extensions themselves, as well as the service provided, is flawless, and you’d never know they’re not my real hair. Since installation I’ve had two maintenance appointments which have been so valuable to my extensions, my natural hair and keeping them both neat and super comfortable! I couldn’t recommend The Hair Alchemist more!

Where do I start? I’ve been coming to see Emma for 6 years. I suffer from hair loss and was at my wits end until a friend recommended The Hair Alchemist. From the minute I walked in until my final visit I was treated like a queen. Emma took the time to listen to my worries and talked me through all my options. I’d been embarrassed to talk to anyone up to this point but Emma was so lovely. She even offered to open up the salon just for me if I didn’t want to be around other clients. She has cared for me ever since, even texting me to see how I am. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Great start, disappointing end- would not recommend I would recommend people take serious note of the negative reviews, or have consultations with other salons prior to jumping into booking here- I wish I had. As my first time having hair extensions I had admired their website and social media pages for years, knowing once I could afford to I would come here for them. I had my consultation with Emma, she was lovely, reassuring, professional and I loved the hair- I immediately booked in for a fitting around a month later. Emma had to cancel my initial appointment, but this was absolutely not a problem due to her personal circumstances. She was very apologetic and rearranged to open the salon for me later that week- which I was so grateful for. My fitting went well and I loved the finished look. There were no appointments available for me to book my 3 week check up, but Emma advised me to phone if I needed one and she would fit me in. That evening and the next day, my hair and scalp felt really painful, but I assumed that was to be expected as they were newly fitted- this got worse over the following 5 days, I had a constant headache and couldn’t sleep. I phoned to request an appointment just to check if it was normal to be in so much pain after 5 days. I was told Emma and Chloe were both with customers, but reassured someone would call me back asap- no one ever did. In my desperation I phoned another salon, at no cost they looked and advised hair was being pulled in from different sections and that was causing the pain as they were starting to grow out- I had to have nearly half of them removed after 6 days. As others have found, most salons won’t consider refitting the hair as they want to supply their own. I felt really upset as I spent a fortune on this hair and after 6 days it was basically worthless. Despite the initial issues, I thought I’d try get them re-fit- I called and asked to make an appointment for a refit. I was told they would need to check availability and would then call me back, again no one ever did. It feels as though I was dropped/ blacklisted, I’m not sure what I did wrong. Fortunately, I have a found a new salon, professional, friendly- who were willing to refit my hair! They had to rebond it as it was all falling apart at the stick tips, and then refit it for a tiny fraction of the cost I had originally paid. I went for the premium hair as I was told it could last up to 5 years, however I have been told by multiple salons I’ll be lucky to get 6 months out of it. I appear to have been blocked from the Facebook page- so I wouldn’t expect to see any bad reviews on there.

I started going to Emma and her team at the Hair Alchemist a few years ago. The quality of the extensions are amazing and my own hair grew so well and the condition improved unbelievably. I was diagnosed with breast cancer and lost my hair hair due to chemo last year which devastated me. Emma and Michael made me a beautiful wig out of sheer kindness which i still sometimes wear. Throughout my illness Emma has kept in touch sending me kind messages and has made me feel more than just a customer. My own hair started to grow back in but due to living in newcastle I was unable to get down to see her in harrogate during my illness to have a hair replacement system fitted so went to a local salon. Although I was supplied a beautiful system it has been to heavy and pulled a lot of my new hair out which has devastated me. Emma and Michael invited me back down to the Hair Alchemist and again out of sheer kindness and generosity she has supplied me with a full new light weight, beautiful quality hair integration system free!!! I cant tell you what this has done for my confidence!!! I cant recommend The Hair Alchemist enough! If you want quality, expertise and highly trained and qualified staff in hair loss and hair extensions then you this is the place to go 💕

I’ve been BLOCKED on every social media platform they have aswell as my mobile number - by EMMA so I’ve had to resort to here. They still have my booking fee and despite being given my bank details have never sent a penny back . What a nightmare from the very beginning (after they took my money) I paid for A limitless head of extensions i.e. limitless. After leaving the salon I noticed big gaps in my hair everywhere and it was so thin and straggly . My partner was mortified . So I rang up and arrange to have more put in. Less than 4 weeks later all the rings started going silver. I contacted the salon to explain and was told no more appointments for over two months. It was only when I insisted I could not walk around like this as I looked absolutely ridiculous that they reluctantly gave me an appointment. I had the rings all changed and was told is happened before and it will not happen again now they’ve been changed . 3 weeks later I tried booking for what they called free tightening or health check and was told by Ellen It had been four weeks to the day and I had gone over the time in which they will do the health check. I got off the phone and checked my diary and in fact it was three weeks to the day so I called back so try and arrange the health check and was told i absolutely didn’t need it and it was complementary and I didn’t need to drive the 2 Hour Drive which I do each time just for this But I could however book In for the eight week check I was given the price of 315 pounds For them reattaching and 760 pounds for another 30 grams adding. I said I have to speak to my husband and I will get back to them. I had a couple of voicemails from them but every time I return them During working hours I was told they will get back to you after 5 PM out of working hours. No one has ever got back to me sinceI therefore I resorted totexting to try and get an appointment. I’m now being told there’s no appointments till February. My hair is damaged and falling out Emma the owner has been nothing but rude obnoxious and does nothing but lie if you read the other reviews you will see. She tells you there’s no appointments and her husband mike who is lovely by the way, tells you they do have appointments. She clearly has an attitude problem and is nothing but rude. Whilst sat in the chair a lady phoned up complaining she’d just had a full head of hair and was feeling ill . Emma got off the phone and her and another client proceeded to mock the woman and laugh. Absolutely ridiculous. My advice to anyone thinking of using the Hair Alchemist is to steer clear. UPDATE! Still BLOCKED AND STILL NOT RECEIVED ANY HELP WITH MY HAIR . Also haven’t received my booking fee of £50 that they took and never gave me an appointment. .
