It seems to be becoming more fashionable to knock Blackthorn Health Centre and GP’s in general, so in the interests of balance, I would like to say how happy our family is with their overall care and professional approach. Both myself and my daughter have chronic illnesses which require regular (and sometimes urgent) nurse, doctor or medicine manager attention. We have never experIenced anything remotely like the the kind of delays and complaints others attribute to this practice.

As usual takes forever to book a simple vacination appointment on the telephone. Much easier ti visit the surgery! Nurse who gave me the shot was charming and helpful. Would it not ne easier with an online appointment system for simple procedures. Obvously with severe penalties for no attendence or abuse of the system. This would help to free up the phone system.

I am extremely disappointed with service my son has received from Blackthorn Health Centre. Without going into too much detail he has been trying to obtain a letter from the doctor for the last 3 weeks so he can obtain an extension on his deadline dates for his university assignments. He did an e consult to chase on Thursday 27 April and received a reply advising he would receive a response by Thursday 4 May. Yesterday I called the surgery and spoke to a very helpful receptionist who said she would look into this as there was no call back on his records and she would call my son back yesterday afternoon. This did not happen and when my son called to ask what was happening the receptionist he spoke to said there was no note of my call on his records. This is totally unacceptable. Can someone PLEASE look into this today and contact my son URGENTLY.
