Well who knew such a fabulous place existed. I actually had my 21st birthday at Sopwell House way back when it was still a privately owned hotel. We had been carrying out lots of work on our new (old) house and one of the changes we made was to install a picture frame gas fire, to get the depth we had to add a fake chimney breast and the result was we were left with two slightly narrower than your average cabinet spaces. Whilst visiting St Albans we were told about Blacks of Sopwell as being a supplier/manufacturer of individual pieces of furniture. Well, truth be told I spotted a dining table I loved straight away but alas too late as I had already purchased a new table. However, they had several cabinets all which could be made to what ever size I wanted, a choice of wood and finishes. I chose a cabinet in Oak, the oak is fabulous, 30mm thick, the doors from the cabinet all cut from the same piece so the grain follows through the doors. I also chose a matching TV cabinet but had drawers added rather than open fronted as most equipment is now Bluetooth so does not need line of sight to operate. I made a slight change to the base of the cabinets which Ian was happy to accommodate for us. Since then we have gone back for a further piece of furniture, this time had a distinctive piece of shelving made with the same finish as the cabinets. Ian was very patient whilst we made our choices and confirmed the best finish to match in with our flooring. Highly recommend, fabulous furniture and fabulous service. Thank you Ian and your team.
