I stayed at this facility 4 months from JUNE 2021 to OCTOBER 2021 (and that was enough for me). Apart from the Nurses/Healthcare Staff, the Social Worker assigned to my case after I asked several times for and Cleaners/Care Takers, I found everybody else to be an absolute nightmare to deal with. Occupational Therapy was great at the beginning but my wonderful gentleman had to go back to Australia and the person that was assigned to me was really non-existent. I think I saw her twice the last part of my stay there. The Physio had stopped my treatment three weeks beforehand to apparently get me used to being at home but I felt that this was a ridiculous excuse as my borough (Bexley) was still paying £4,000 towards my treatment per week right to the very end and my rehabilitation is still ongoing since I’ve been at home. But I just felt that it was a way of getting hold of extra ££. It’s a shame that they never used it to spruce up that side of the rehabilitation centre. This process happens with all clients. It is sad as clients end up in their rooms just in bed all day or the tv room, if you can get in from the staff using it for training purposes or lunchtime. But you can’t express your upset, as it is looked at as clients being difficult. My mental health was affected with my physical health and this is where it should have been addressed. Even though I expressed my feelings from the beginning, I was told that the mental health people from the other side could not attend as they were far too busy with other patients. I was a patient as well and having an O/T Manager give me a half an hour chat about using different tools to help me in life, did not help! It just made me feel more depressed. It wasn’t until I got home when my own GP got involved and counsellors that I was diagnosed with depression and PTSD as well as everything else that was going on. So thanks Blackheath rehab for addressing that issue and helping me. The other side which was the brain injury centre was all brand-new and spotless and worked like clockwork. But the side that I was on was a total sham! You can see by the pictures that I have tried to post that it was not a nice/clean environment to be in. It’s been a year and a half that I feel I need to share this and I was in two minds but after reading other new reviews, nothing has changed. Please think twice about going to this rehab centre. It’s all good when they come to sell you the package but I do not think enough clients put their reviews on this website. If they did, it might push the centre to get their act together. I complained several times but between management and Mr Huntley of Huntercombe they never ever got back to us. I am in the process of preparing a report with pictures etc., and forwarding it to HUNTERCOOMBE and also to the CQC. We as clients gave opinions to the advocate that came weekly and he took many notes and gave us many surveys to fill in there but nothing happened and I never heard anything from anybody apart from that advocate telling me that he is still collating papers. The place is seriously rundown and has very old equipment. Some people don’t follow the care instructions that are set out for clients. Sometimes my meds., were not there and my husband had to go to my hospital/pharmacy and collect it for me. Another time my own GP had to step in and help. Too many corners cut! And yes clients do actually exercise in the corridors. No privacy for anyone. Sometimes two clients using one small, very untidy and unhygienic therapy room. This does not happen on the other side. Equipment old, damaged and very unhygienic. Food is absolutely disgusting. Not enough cleaners to clean up. Food left in or on microwave for hours! Yet clients are told you can’t get people to bring food in for you. Many clients had take away food delivered. I know towards the end I lived off pot noodles. And not to forget to mention the turn around in staff is ridiculous. Just see my pictures and don’t think because it’s in Blackheath it is the best!

I have been an impatient of this place. It is an absolute rundown and dilapidated service. staff has no training or understanding the services are not patient centered. The building needs a good revamp. My experience has been horrendous. Most staff doesn’t understand the importance of a courteous service. I wouldn’t recommend this facility to anybody. During my state staff had made lots of errors in terms of my medication. Often they are undocumented. The premises is very unwelcoming the maintenance doesn’t exist. I am sure there are documents to prove maintenance had been done on time. but when you walk in it is very unreal coming atmosphere these are honest and true remarks I welcome anyone to prove me wrong. most People receiving treatment at this facility are aggressive. However there are no catered treatment depending on the individual.

I have recently started my employment at the Blackheath Brain Injury Hospital, I have found the staff to be very friendly, caring and helpful. The patients are extremely friendly, passing compliments on a weekly basis (also lots of chocolate given to the staff from patients). The hospital is currently undergoing development which is exciting, more good things to come. I am honoured to be a part of the Huntercombe Group.

Unable to leave no stars. I’ve seen staff treat patients with absolute contempt, it’s run down, physio which takes place in the corridor, is poorly executed and infrequent. And as for the hydrotherapy pool…no one I spoke to had ever used it. In fact several didn’t even know it’s there. If you ask a member of staff if you can use it, they’ll be happy to tell you it’s not appropriate for you. I complained officially, and was told there was something that needed fixing. Staff on the other hand knew it had never been used in years. But it’s still on their website as a facility. Patients easily ‘shut down’ in this environment. The Huntercombe Group is there for it’s shareholders.

My son was in admission to this Centre over 3 years ago. I did not like it. Communication was poor and some night staff seemed demoralised. Surroundings needed a complete overall decor wise. You can't see any photos of inside the building on this info page, only one of the street, which says it all because inside was not uplifting at all for the residents. To think this is a Rehabilitation Centre the building and happy staff go a long way to uplift your spirits and this place lack in all areas.
