  We all know how stressful and overwhelming pregnancy and giving birth can be, and it’s no surprise that many expecting moms turn to doulas for support. I would have loved Grace to be part of my pregnancy from the start but I am grateful to have been able to meet her at the end of my pregnancy for pregnancy massage sessions, which became a huge emotional support and strength for me as I prepared for delivery!! Although the obstetrician was recommending an inducement and considering a csection due to the size of my baby, she encouraged me to have a natural birth which it was what I wanted from the beginning and I learn so much from her. I'm so grateful for her support and guidance, I would have been filled with doubts and worries of not being capable of birth my baby otherwise. I proudly said I had a great birth at the end. Thanks for everything, Grace, you are amazing!

  From my husband’s perspective: When we made the decision to get an ante-natal doula, my wife and I wanted to find someone whose care, empathy and knowledge would guide us through our journey and who could advocate for us during labour. Being a black couple we were acutely aware of the heightened chances of negative outcomes during childbirth and so we wanted somebody who was culturally aware and capable of being an advocate for us. Grace ticked all these boxes for us. In our initial interview with her, she immediately made us feel at ease with her empathetic and caring manner and reassured us about our competence in advocating for the care we wanted, even telling my wife, to paraphrase, "they may have experience of 1000 pregnancies, but they have no experience with your pregnancy, you are the expert on you". After accepting to be our ante-natal and birthing doula, Grace walked us through our birthing journey and gave us the courage to choose the birth we actually wanted for our first child (a home birth) over what we felt was expected by providing us with all the knowledge we needed to make an informed choice. In fact, Grace is all about making informed choices, and made it a point of duty to encourage us to ask the question "What does that mean?" at every opportunity both of herself and the medical practitioners we came in contact with. often she would ask us " did they seek your consent?" "did they explain it to you?" constantly reminding us we were more than passengers in this journey. When delivery day came round we couldn't have had a better guide with us. Whilst we were unable to have the birth we wanted, due to the length of time labour took and mum's inevitable fatigue, having Grace with us meant that at crucial times when we were overwhelmed and swamped, there was always somebody bringing eveything back down to earth and grounding every one present. My wife gave birth without medical intervention and our baby is hale and hearty. We really couldn't have asked for more. Her professionalism, coupled with her thoughtfulness meant we always felt listened to, and cared for and over the nine months we developed a relationship that we are sad to see end. One thing we are certain is this; if we have a second child, we will ask Grace to be our doula again.

  Grace followed me during my pregnancy and birth. I had such a great experience; I cannot suggest her enough. Since our first meeting we created a great connection, I was so impressed about her passion and knowledge. She has been present in every step of my pregnancy (antenatal) and birth, always responsive and supportive. She helped me with lots of resources, books, information and also practically when I needed to write letters and requests. Every of our meeting was very educational and Grace always make sure that was also full of fun. I felt supported in every my decision, Grace was always on my side giving me all the information needed to follow my way. My birth went differently respect I what I planned but with Grace support I was able to embrace it and it was, in the end, a positive and transformative experience. Grace is such an amazing person, she always understood my needs and supported me emotional every time I needed. She also proposed to make pictures during my pregnancy and also during the birth (on my discretion). This was such a great idea, me and my partner were mentally too busy to do it and we would have regret to don’t have them. Now we have a great album full of memories. I feel like there is still so much to say about this experience but the most important thing is that it wouldn't have been the same without Grace. Grace is not just a great doula is now part of our family and me and my partner are so great to had share those intimate and important moments with her.

  I was lucky enough to come across Grace's profile. We formed an instant bond in the very first meeting, and we knew she was going to be the right doula for us. She reminded me of my options and empowered me to make informed decisions based on evidence, not fear. Grace was full of knowledge and researched information for balanced decisions. She was an asset in every hospital appointment, and her invaluable help in writing letters to specific parties was decisive for me to continue with my home birth plan. She was also a great companion at other healing therapies like acupuncture and Bowen therapy. Grace was there by my side supporting my decisions. Before labour and birth, Grace constantly provided relevant information through specific links, books, and videos. She covered all aspects of KG Hypnobirthing, and suggested listening to all the audios and meditations every day. She helped me prepare my space for the home birth, bringing all the necessary things for a calm and happy atmosphere, and she even curated a positive music playlist for me. My goodie bag and the complimentary birth support equipment were essential. I did not expect to have such recursive and practical elements. Grace is full of mindful gifts. She pays attention to every single detail to create a magical experience. It was always a joy to open the door to her calm and happy persona but, it was the emotional support for me that was key. Grace has an aura of a very old friend that creates an immediate sense of trust. She was an important support during labour, using rebozo and other gentle techniques. She provided calm encouragement, aromatherapy, and massage. Grace made sure I stayed hydrated and offered constant suggestions to make me feel relaxed and safe. She played an important role within the family, and she was also a great support to my husband during the whole process. Even though I didn’t accomplish my wish to have a home birth, and in the end, I had to be transferred to the hospital, Grace came behind the ambulance and stayed with us until everything was fine. She brought me some of my personal belongings to the hospital and kept in contact with me every day. She helped soothe my disappointments, and I never felt judged by her. As I was struggling with the soreness and emotions, Grace was always thoughtful and kind. One example (of many such examples) after birth, Grace came home to visit our family and did a beautiful closing birth ceremony full of blessings, and even give me a massage. Seeing her again and going over my birth was so crucial for my healing process. All the valuable information she gave me about postnatal recovery and birth reflections were important for me to understand what I went through. I cannot recommend Grace enough.
