I brought my 3 year old here on Bank Holiday Monday after he was suffering with an ongoing issue which was getting worse and making him extremely unwell and miserable (he has seen the GP several times for this problem). As soon as we arrived I was met with hostility by both triage nurses (male and female) asked why I didn’t take him to the walk in centre. I explained as he has additional needs the walk in centre is out the question and he will not last long at all and he is already in a lot of pain and not his usual self(he already had a meltdown after 10 minutes of waiting in the A&E waiting room) I explained he has been refusing prescribed medications (after I have exhausted all options, mixing in meals/giving via syringe, diluting with juice etc- and due to his sensory issues with food very difficult). The triage nurses were rude, made assumptions straight away about me without listening, kept talking over me, huffing and puffing. This was all on the children’s emergency department. Thank goodness 1 nurse used the initiative to actually read his notes and identify he is already under Paediatrics. I appreciate everyone is under pressure and short staffed but there is a way of speaking to people. Your staff need SERIOUS training when it comes to children with learning disabilities!

I was sent by my volunteering manager as I was feeling dizzy and also feeling faint. I was sent to a&e department after the doctors examined me in Birmingham Treatment Centre. The care overall was okay not the best mainly due to communication between the a&e Cardiology staff to the patient especially when I have a learning disability. I was moved from pillar to post around the a&e without even being notified after they put me in a cubicle. I was then moved to AMU 1 bay 2 bed 4 of Birmingham City Hospital. Once afrer being sent to AMU 1 bay 2 bed 4 I was then moved again with no communication whatsoever. I was moved to ward D7 - Acute Cardiology Services. Once being on D7 - Acute Cardiology Services at Birmingham City Hospital the communication kind of improved but wasn't the best. The communication regarding my care on D7 was poor. The Cardiology teams communication wasn't very good when I asked for updates on my care as I was under D7 - Acute Cardiology for 24 hours. I was discharged from ward D7 - Acute Cardiology at Birmingham City Hospital the following discharged the plan moving forward wasn't explained properly in a way I would of understanded. I won't be returning back to a&e at Birmingham City Hospital and I asked the team if they could transfer my care to QEHB Birmingham as its more closer to my home and convient for me but they said no shockingly. My Cardiology follow-up couldn't be transfered to QEHB Birmingham so now I have to come back to Birmingham Treatment Centre for my Cardiology follow-up appointment. The prescription issuing wasn't handled in a very professional manner or way as when I was discharged from Ward D7 of Birmingham City Hospital I then had a phone call from the pharmacy team saying that they messed up my medication even though my prescription bag was passed and looked at by 4 people and non of them even realised that they messed up my prescription. On Wednesday afternoon, I had to return back to Ward D7 at Birmingham City Hospital to collect the right medication and return the wrong medicine that was prescribed on discharge. I am not the one to complain about my care but the communication and the way I was spoken to by some of the doctors is absolutely ridiculous and unprofessional. I want everything investigated as this is very unprofessional and very annoying because some of the a&e doctors and the ward doctors there tone of voice was not the best at all. I do suffer from anxiety about my current and physical health and this admission to hospital didn't make it any better at all because of the communication was absolutely ridiculous and poor. I hate to give a bad rating to an overrun and understaffed NHS department but my god this wasn’t underfunding, this terrible experience was just incompetence. After giving my details and waiting an hour, turns out they’d submitted me under the wrong name so missed my call for ages. Hospital was unclean, so many spillages and so much blood dripping on the floor in big puddles with no attempt to clean up. I was then after 2 hours finally given an EKG and told to wait again. After another hour I asked what was happening only to find out my notes weren’t submitted to the next department, had I not chased I’d have never been called up. 4 hours for what should have been a 20 min appointment and just the most disgusting department I’ve ever been in. Is this what 10% of my salary is paying for?

Worst hospital ever, have you waiting around with no communication, never ask if you’re okay or need anything. They laugh and talk and say they will check stuff you’ve asked but instead be having conversations with there staff I’m not happy with my experience and never will be the hospital smells like urine which was very unpleasant to sit waiting 2 hours in that smell.

Real bad service staff have a lack of medical knowledge and doctors are a joke there, on top of all that the waiting time is a bigger joke all you notice is the nurses just chat doing nothing and Drs just pass you joking around like in a play ground
