AWFUL EXPERIENCE. I will start with the good things, tho. The furniture are new, reception is open 24h. Bad things: everything else. I asked MMU accomodation service for a hall for more mature, postgraduate students and they sent me here. Please, do take into account that I was paying almost double than everyone else for accommodation since it was a short stay... The place was full of Freshers, not a single postgraduate. It was extremely lonely as the hall does not organise enough activities for students to get to know one another (let alone mature students). It was virtually impossible to meet new people, even more so if you arrived once the term has started. No control whatsoever of alcohol or drug use (this might be a plus for some, not for me); housemates where snorting ket in the kitchen table 24/7 or smoking weed (smoke detectors do not work). Ridiculous cleaning service; once a month if you get lucky and they do not clean properly. The smell was unbearable. I was there during the COVID pandemic and they forced me to move to another building since a considerable number of students had move out or return to their homes and the they did not want to flush the cisterns (they said it was not sustainable aka cost-effective for them) and told me I would get legionela if I stayed there (they basically threatened me). In this new building there was a plague of biscuit beetles (sometimes there were over 40 of them in the kitchen at a time) and they did nothing about it (well, they sprayed something they bought at your local store and, of course, it didn't work). To sum up, I stayed in a filthy, unsociable place for four months which, coupled with the awful measures they took during the covid-19 quarantine, made it one of the most terrible experiences of my life.

I’ve taken a while to write this review as the majority of my stay here was good. This is a nice accommodation and great for making friends. However, when covid hit in 2021 I had to go home to my family. I returned in July to move out. When returning I realised student living had thrown out almost all of my kitchen stuff and all of my bathroom stuff. Anyone who’s moved out knows this is expensive kit. I had also been robbed of all my possessions earlier that year and I’m a student so this significantly impacted me. I reviewed this to them and got no response. They also said I had no packages when I was moving out (despite having sent me out an email saying my package had arrived and I got a notification from seller it had been delivered.) The next day when I’m back home in Ireland, they rang saying they found the package and I must pick it up within 2 weeks or it will be disposed of! I couldn’t get a flight over for a single package, they refused to hold onto it until I could return (despite this being their fault). I had to pay a friend to drive up from Bristol to Manchester just to collect it. Honestly, they need to learn to have more empathy and compassion. They don’t know what an impact they can have on students lives.
