A very interesting museum with audio visual recordings. Mining was a vital source of employment in the area. We didn't go around the grounds but it looks like a whole day could be spent in the 250 acres. Plenty of activities. There's also a cafe.

Love the new restaurant area. Big playground for the kids too. You can rent a bicycle or even a quad bike. Very nice trails to walk or bike, off road as well as tarmac.

I have visited Betteshanger park three times this year and each time it has been better than the last. Access is good and parking is surprisingly affordable given what's on offer for free. The playground is large and varied for kids of different ages. The velo track is well maintained and has never been too busy, and is suitable for a range of users and types of bike. Toilets are plentiful and come with showers and changing rooms with lockers. The toilets could have been cleaner and the soap dispensers were empty on recent visits. Accessible toilet was clean and well designed. Restaurant on site was a bit of a disappointment - 45 minute wait for a bowl of chips, staff appeared disinterested and at times confused and overwhelmed. It had an air of not enough staff and not enough experience. Food and drink was expensive too so I recommend bringing your own. Dog-friendliness: Lots of happy dogs - bowls of water were available, lots of shade and a hose for removing mud or cooling them down was available

Lovely family day out/visit. Great playground with lots of equipment to play on. There is plenty of seating . Although they could do with some shade to sit under. They have a lovely restaurant. I would recommend booking in advance and make sure to let them know of any dietary requirements when making the booking.
