We were a tricky case for Carl as our dog was already very well trained - but gets over excited when seeing other dogs and was not settling at night . I was unable to join a group class so we did three 1:1’s.Carl made several very good suggestions- especially around equipment and bounds and was flexible with the training location and approach.

The basic dog training was ok but it doesn't take 4 weeks to train an assistance dog it takes 2 years be clear with what you expect from the training there is no such thing as registration or certification for assistance dogs

We took our boarder collie Finn to BFFL to improve his socialising around other dogs. Finn is a rescue and unfortunately his past has influenced his behaviour when out on his lead and specifically his tendency to become defensive around other dogs. After just 2 sessions with Carl his behaviour improved dramatically. Finn is now far more relaxed and confident around other dogs. Do not take your dog to Carl for dog training this guy can not tie his own shoe laces let alone train an animal descended from wolves. He lacks the leadership skills or authority to train a dog in being obedient and following commands. He did not tell me about the non refund policy that is hidden in his booklet. First lesson went okay as it was just a walk around the park with some recall exercises. The second and last ever session was a joke he could not even control his dog Maisee let alone show our dog Louie how an obedient dog should act. My dog Louie spent the whole lesson running around the field ignoring Carl who was more concerned with finding his lost string bracelet. After this session we decided to cancel the remaining 4 solo dog training sessions and the two puppy training classes as we didn't feel he was competent to do the job he was paid to do We asked for a refund and was told by his "lawyer wife" that we had reached a verbal contract and that we could not be refunded the £104 for the sessions outstanding. Please do yourselves a massive favour and steer clear of best friends for life dog training school. For proof I attended training with Carl please see the attached picture that Carl persistently asked for me take so he could promote his business. Also Carl has quite the affinity for Amazon and pets at home other retailers are available

Unfortunately my dog did run off in the park as he seemed to not be happy at the particular park where Carl does his training. I decided to train my dog elsewhere where he seems much more comfortable.
