Very understanding company - booked my initial appointment for the wrong day and couldn't make it - very easy to rearrange. Dr Attard was very thorough and unrushed as well as being very personable

Best thing I’ve ever done after facing a 10 year NHS wait for ADHD assessment where I live. I finally have the answers I’ve needed and the right treatment. Dr Hearfield was kind, professional and extremely thorough in assessing me due to a long and complicated mental health history. She liaised with the NHS professionals involved in my care and has provided enhanced follow up appropriate to levels of risk. As a former doctor myself, I cannot recommend Berkeley psychiatrists highly enough.

The assessment was a very interesting process with Dr Rostamipour explaining things clearly. I was actually surprised at a few relevant things he noticed which I hadn't picked up on at all.

Update after a year: I am now in the process of opening up my own business. Thank you Dr Hugo for my new life. Update after six months: my symptoms are completely under control now. There were many times I wanted to give up during titration, but thank you dr Hugo never gave up on me. ADHD not only is a baggage, but is a talent once fully treated. I now don’t have temper issue or impulsivity anymore, I am able to set boundaries in day to day life, I schedule my days and am able to follow the schedules through, I shedded the shame of “I’m weird” and “ I’m worthless”. My dyslexia is gone, I can read a whole book within three days. I have the confidence to look within and trust myself whenever life gets tougher. The dyspraxia is also gone, I am able to enjoy sports. Thank you Dr Hugo for giving me a brand new life! ‘Ophelia, congratulations you got ADHD!’ I was a crying mess, but not anymore. I can finally forgive myself for my mood swings, for my anxiety, for my clumsinesses and careless mistakes. And can finally forgive myself for all my failed relationships. After diagnosis, I’ve started Elvanse 30 mg capsules once daily. The first time I can sit down and tackle my study and work without getting fidgeting and anxious, I don’t have to get up and walk around every five minutes. I don’t have to try to control my anger through out the day. The background noises are gone. It’s just clarity I never had privilege to experience… I can finally… enjoy the moment.

Posted under my name and middle name. Private ADHD clinics are getting a bad press at the moment, so I felt compelled to write this review. Berkeley have been second to none for me, my diagnosis and assessment was extremely thorough, Dr Woodger took me right back to childhood and asked me lots of detailed questions about my experiences as a child and as an adult. A detailed medical history was taken, and family and friends were asked to fill out detailed questionnaires. My experience was detailed, thorough and validated my experiences. I would highly recommend Berkeleys, do not be put off by what you're reading in the media. Not all private clinics are failing their patients.

I have been a patient here for 2 months now. I held off writing my review until after my first review and I’m glad I did. There’s a little negative press about some private psychiatry services at the moment and I feel now that I have a duty to other patients to comment specifically on Berkeley Psychiatrists. My assessment was for ADHD. In the weeks leading up to my appointment with Dr Rostamipour, I was sent forms to establish my medical history, consult with my GP and obtain collateral history from family members and friends regarding my life, mental health and my behaviours in childhood and adulthood. It was very detailed and took hours of discussion and writing to gather all the information which then had to be returned to the Doctor prior to assessment. On the day of the assessment, Dr Rostamipour was very patient and took time to discuss my medical history and my full mental health history as well as reviewing the information that had been sent back by my family member. He also spent some time discussing ADHD in general and some time discussing ways in which I could see ADHD from a different perspective with upsides as well as some challenges. I found this really comforting as someone who struggled with accepting my perceived “character flaws”. The next stage of the assessment was a NICE approved structured interview called a DIVA assessment which is the clinically validated interview tool for ADHD. This process again establishes the presence of ADHD symptoms in adulthood and childhood and the level of distress or impairment caused to daily function. It was tough going and very intensive, at times difficult to acknowledge. Dr Rostamipour was patient and understanding. We then discussed my physical health and results of recent blood tests, my heart health and recent ECG results. Dr Rostamipour did indeed diagnose me with combination type ADHD based on my history, my self reports, the collateral information and the outcome of the DIVA assessment. We discussed options for treatment such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Coaching and Medication. I was given a choice as to whether I’d like to try medication therapy and I chose to do that along with a therapeutic option I’d arranged through a non-profit that supports people with ADHD. I was given a full explanation of the way the medicine worked and what to expect, what to do if any side effects occurred and how to safely take it. It was also explained to me how Berkeley would work with me to find the right medicine and dose over time before partnering with my GP to enter a shared care agreement and how to arrange follow up appointments with my specialist. I really felt like this was a very comprehensive way of going about things. I don’t feel the assessment was in any way rushed and I came away from my first appointment feeling relieved. Dr Rostamipour followed up after my assessment with a written report on the process he’d followed, the treatment plan and options, information about my medicine and on my follow up treatment plan. I had my second review a month later with an equally lovely clinician Ms Azizah Attard, who took time to find out how I was doing, re-assure me and answer my questions. I’ve been lucky in that I’ve had a very positive response to the medication with no side effects, perhaps because I started on a very low dose and carefully titrated upwards. I was given contact details if I had any problems mid-review but haven’t needed to use them. I found the service to be very well organised, the Doctors and Clinicians very patient and professional and the follow up and support to be excellent. I realise to some, this might look like an overly effusive review but I do feel like my life has been improved for the better. I am a Healthcare Professional myself and work in the area of managing a highly regulated healthcare environment and so I felt it was only fair to provide a detailed review of Berkeley Psychiatry from my perspective so others might be re-assured. A big thanks to Dr Rostamipour and Ms Attard for their care so far.

Thorough. Compassionate. Insightful. At 54 years of age, it took me 18 months of procrastination to book my assessment despite having two GP referrals. I looked at a number of private practices and felt that Berkeley was the right balance of approachability and clinical knowledge/credibility. Dr Attard has been exceptional throughout the assessment and titration process. Coming into the assessment, I had huge imposter syndrome, nobody to provide 3rd party childhood insights and, at the time, an unsupportive partner. Dr Attard was able gather insight and evidence during the assessment and even set up a second meeting to ensure he had a thorough and complete view before making his diagnosis. Follow up titration calls with the practice have been also been thorough and I am now weeks away from a shared care agreement and my once unsupportive partner wishes that I had been diagnosed years ago thee difference is so palpable, and I am actually starting to be effective at work again.
