They look like angels, don’t they? Don’t be fooled! I’ve always had rescues. They often come with problems. Anyone who knows Jack Russells knows they are fun, but definitely feisty. Brie has pins in her legs but is pretty balanced behaviourally. Pablo (left), however, was terrified – of everything. And I tried – everything. Positive reinforcement worked to a degree – he’s no longer scared of people! – but the poor boy was still petrified of other dogs. Sadly some people will insist on letting dogs off lead in small spaces and though you try to avoid them, the inevitable happens. After much searching on line, I found Amy at Behind the Mind. Amy, with patience and a great understanding of dogs’ body language, helped me take that positive reinforcement forwards. I can now walk my two dogs together and Pablo and Brie are actually enjoying their walks. This is nothing short of a miracle and I cannot recommend Amy enough. We reached out to Amy because we were at our wits end with our 2 year old Labrador - Podrick. We had allowed him to pull on the lead and were struggling to train that out of him, making dog walks stressful and frustrating. Amy took us back to basics and explained everything to us thoroughly, providing feedback on us and ideas to stimulate Podrick rather than just walking him to tire him out. He’s come so far, and we’ve learnt so much! We owe so much to Amy, because she allowed us to enjoy our time with Podrick - but mostly enabled us not to feel like failures, we can do it - and Amy helped us realise that, Thankyou so much Amy 🙂

Amy is brilliant and has helped us enormously with our dog who we rescued from a shelter at age 4.5 years; he was very anxious of everything (inc. the car), had no "Recall" and was also very excitable - he is now a very different dog and we are thrilled with his progress. We strongly recommend her and her positive training strategies but remember that you too have to put in the recommended practice outside of the booked training sessions. Thanks for all your help Amy, we can't overstate how much!

Before we met Amy, we had a beagle pup who never stopped, and at times, her behaviour was very difficult to take. After some online research I came across Behind the Mind Dog Training and it is quite possibly one of the best decisions as dog owners we have ever taken. Not only did Amy change our dogs behaviour, she also changed our behaviour, and we began to understand how we were with our dog was enabling our dog to behave the way she did. The change didn't happen overnight and you do have to persevere, but we now have a dog that is so much better behaved than when we started using Amy's services, and Gerty has better owners who now understand how to deal with situations as they arise and what we need to do to prevent these from happening. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Amy as her understanding and knowledge of dog behaviour is amazing.

After taking on a 9 month old manic rescued border collie we soon realised that although we were experienced dog owners who had border collies previously, Ozzy came with issues we were not prepared for. Immediately we contacted Amy at Behind the Mind who came to our rescue. She gave us the tools we needed to cope with his behaviours which increased our confidence enormously.
